Highlands Frosh 20 Dixie Frosh 8

Featured Replies

The Baby Birds just got finished beating the Little Colonels at Highlands. Hard hitting game by both teams. Dixie's qb and their running back are good players.

Highlands qb, Wil Bardo played a very good game. Made several very nice passes and ran for a touchdown. Collinsworth and Alford ran the ball well. After the Colonels scored in the third quarter to tie it up, the Birds marched it down the field playing smash mouth football. The Birds really responded well and blew the Colonels off the ball. Great blocking up front and hard running by the backs.

Congrats Birds. One more to go.

Looks like the Birds will continue to defeat Dixie next year when they are in the same class. I guess some things never change.

Very good game by the baby birds...What a wicked hit put on the Dixie wideout by Wil Bardo. This was the best hit I have seen all year long including jv and varsity games. WOW.........The kid lost his cookies on the field after the hit....

After vomitting, should the kid have re-entered the game?

As one Highlands fan pointed out, maybe he just had the wind knocked out of him, but if he puked due to being hit in the head I think he should have probably sought medical attention and not gone back in.

The 'Birds did come ready to play!!!!

Great game boys!

Nice SmashMouth Football! Line up toe-to-toe run up the gut, up & down the field.

ONE TO GO!

I want to commend the entire Dixie program. They had a great showing of school/fan support at the game tonight. The team showed up ready to play. It was a hard fought game. They should be proud of a great season!

Congratulations Highlands! Great game. Both teams played well. I agree with the Road Runner's post. Dixie's kids played well and are talented. Nos. 12, 24 and 30 particularly played well. Nice line on both sides of the ball. You could see just how devastated they were after the game and my heart went out for them. But the Dixie players handled the loss as well as possible, they were upset but handled it with class. As for some of their fans, well Momma's rule just kicked in.

Birds played well. After a few penalty stopped early drives, the Birds got it in gear. Wil made several nice fade passes to Hogue and Buten (great catches boys!). Nice touch pass to Roller over the middle, and he ran a naked bootleg for a touch down. With Dixie keying on Collinsworth, Alford really stepped it up. He had several very nice runs and ran with power. Collinsworth ran hard the entire game. On the last drive, which was a thing of beauty to this old o lineman, Collinsworth was not to be denied on several critical runs in the drive, including the touchdown. The o line of Grubbs, Beck, Watson, Schlosser and Brown really blew some boys off the ball on that drive and Dixie knew we were going to run right up the gut. We lined up in goal line offense at about the 50 and just pounded it down the field at about 4 or 5 yards a pop.

Birds defense played a very good game. Holding Dixie's offense to 8 points was huge, although Dixie's offense helped there a bit by fumbling the ball into the Highlands endzone (ball recovered by Highlands) when the line of scrimmage was about the 10" yard line. Glad to see the Birds to the double safety defense at times, wish they'd have done it more as the Dixie qb had a great arm and good receivers. Bardo's hit on their receiver over the middle was wicked. Roller had some nice pops also. Cam Dierig, our secret weapon, played another very good game. Brown, Beck and Schlosser all played well on the defensive line. Collinsworth, Alford and Bankemper all played well at the lb spot. Hogue and Watson did a great job of containing. And Buten, Rosenhagen and Bardo did a nice job defending the pass.

Great job Birds. We are very proud of you.

BUT, you have one more thing to get accomplished:

Beat Cougars. You know they will come in determined to prove that your two point win over them in the regular season was a fluke. Was it? Will you keep the streak alive? Will you give the incoming freshmen the additional motivation of having to keep the streak going as they go through this off season's work outs?

Practice hard this week. Last night was fun, but a real test of your maturity and talent will be on how well you quickly focus on the Cougars. You can do it. Go Birds and great job.

Congrats to both teams for exceptional seasons so far. Sounds like there was some Slobberknockin going on at David Cecil Memorial Field last night.

I just heard the game is next Thursday at 6pm at Highlands

Can't wait

I TOTALLY concur with LN! THE TRADITION CONTINUES !!!
