October 19, 200619 yr As I understand it, voting started at 1:30. Any word on the results? I an mostly interested in Prop 2 and Prop 8.
October 19, 200619 yr KHSAA Results Per Courier Journal Now it's off to the BOE and then court and the legislature. All Proposals from KHSAA.ORG The proposal that will eliminate the dead period passed.
October 19, 200619 yr I wonder why there were not enough votes to pass Proposal 8. If everyone is so concerned about Middle School Recruiting why didn't this garner the 2/3rds needed?
October 19, 200619 yr Author I wonder why there were not enough votes to pass Proposal 8. If everyone is so concerned about Middle School Recruiting why didn't this garner the 2/3rds needed? Because people aren't concerned about recruiting. They are concerned about competing. They don't want to have to compete for students. They want to own them.
October 19, 200619 yr I'll bet that prop 8 being sponsored by the privates didn't help either. I agree, Equus. If nothing else, the passing of Prop 2 should keep the lawyers busy for some time to come.
October 19, 200619 yr Author I've said it before, but it is worth repeating. If you think our football teams are good, wait until you see our lawyers.
October 19, 200619 yr Wow the publics couldnt bring themselves to enforce the existing rules... what a joke.
October 19, 200619 yr This just speaks to the motives of the public supporters that voted against this. Absolutely pathetic.
October 19, 200619 yr So if I understand this correctly, the Diocese of Covington could say that any child that attends any one of their grade/middle schools can go to anyone of their high schools and all will be okay, but if a kid from say Blessed Sacrament who wants to attend Beechwood (which would be his district public high school, and where his parents have paid taxes to) would have to sit out a year? Oh the lawyers will be making so much money on this......
October 19, 200619 yr The vote on proposal 8 exposes the publics to be hypocrites. Did any of you really expect anything else?
October 19, 200619 yr I'll be totally surprised if this proposal survives constitutional scrutiny. Are you telling me that a child who has attended a non-public school will be denied access to the educational experience of sports particpation in the public school system merely because he/she happened to attend, e.g., a religious school the preceding year? You've got to be kidding! This is just another example of the sorry state of our public education system on the state level. (It is systemically too politicized, too turf-protecting, and does not have the best interests of the children at heart..... as a system.... there are many good teachers and administrators who deviate from this norm.)
October 20, 200619 yr How about just dropping all of the silliness and just let all schools recruit? It would take care of all the posturing and hypocricy.
October 20, 200619 yr Those who voted against proposal 8 should be embarassed.. Instead of voting to enforce the existing rules they just keep creating new ones.
