Highlands at South Oldham

That's hard to believe, as Cov Cath is usually #2 in NKY following of course the team from Ft.Thomas. But if what you say is true then hopefully we shall have at least three good games come districts next year. CCH v HHS and then both teams against Dixie.

HHS and CCH will now have Dixie later in the season. According to SM32 et al, Dixie is a slow starting team. Add in that , at least next season, Dixie will be a senior-laden team and I'd expect them to perform better against both HHS and CCH later in the season. Heck, they'll be favored over CCH next season.

If you ask me I think the Birds will be even better next year.....:ylsuper: :ylsuper:

While SO may be down this year, last year they were a very good football team I thought. Not sure what the future holds for them, but if they have teams like they did last year, I'm not sure that substituting Dixie for SO is going to make the district any tougher. With no disrespect meant to SM32, I've never really bought into the "Dixie is tougher at the end of the year than they were at the beginning of the year" line of thinking. Sure Dixie improves as the season progresses, but what team doesn't. Personally I think Dixie improves wins and losses wise as their season progresses, because their schedule is easier at the end of the season than at the beginning of the season when they have historically played Highlands and CovCath. I'm sure I'll irritate the N. Ky 4A fans, but its been a long time since any N. Ky 4A school was better than Highlands and CovCath. I really don't expect Dixie to have any more success against Highlands and CovCath at the end of the season than they have playing them at the beginning of the season. Occassional win every now and then but that's about it. Holmes may be better than Grant (don't think Scott is at this juncture), but still a long way to go before they can challenge CovCath or Highlands. Guess we'll find out if I'm right in a year from now.

With the success of Dixie's frosh this year, they should provide some formidable competition in the District in the future along with Cov Cath. Teams like South Oldham and GRant Co just cant compete with the CovCath's and Highlands....no matter how many students they have.

This game on Friday should be a nice warm up for the Big Matchup on the 27th against the Colonels. This will be a good week to rest up some injuries, get some good reps and work on some things they may be faced with on the 27th. Good luck Birds.....the real season is in session... forget about the tough losses...

You must have missed last year's game with SO if you don't think SO can compete with Highlands. We had to block an extra point towards the end of the game to win by one point. The year before that, when we won state, I believe the score was zero to zero at half and while we won, it was a very hard fought game. Both last year and the year before that SO gave us much tougher games than Dixie did. As for this year, we had no problems with Dixie. While I don't expect SO to beat us this year, I wouldn't be surprised if the Birds margin of victory was less than the Birds margin of victory against Dixie. Based on recent performances, I'm just not sold that Dixie will provide a tougher district opponent than SO has. I know they (Dixie) have an outstanding frosh team, but I'm not necessarily ready to equate that into a stellar varsity team. Hopefully I'm wrong and you are right as that will make the Birds even better. But make no doubt about it: SO the last couple of years has played some pretty dang good football against the Birds. They are some tough, aggressive players who really get at it. I saw them play CovCath on Saturday, and while the talent level is down, they do have some hard hitting kids on their team.

And Dixie fans, I'm not trying to beat up on Dixie. Really I'm not. I like Tom and the entire Spritzky family, whom I've known for almost my entire life. I'm simply responding to a point someone made that by adding Dixie and losing

SO, Highlands district will be tougher. Based on recent performances, I don't agree with that logic.

Two predictions:

1 - HHS wins by a lot...

2 - Seth Gordon gets a bunch of yards.

Is Gordon #20?

I really don't see anyone stopping the Birds the rest of the year (unless they stop themselves), no disrespect to CovCath and the like, but I really feel like the Birds are on another level than the rest of 3A this year.

I think the Blue Boys on the other side of the creek will have something to say about that in 2 weeks as they have given no indication to think they are not every bit as good as the birds based on their play versus common opponents (as much as it pains me to say that!) Once again the State Championship could be played a few weeks before the first Sat. in December. Bowling Green must be for real though, as they are getting some major respect from everyone else across the state.:scared:

We'll talk in 2 weeks. :D

Hopefully we'll be talking about a huge Bluebird victory!:thumb:

LN, I was at last year's SO game and I remember it being close... but I also remember the Birds playing a mediocre game from what I can recall. Not putting down the SO team because they did have some decent skilled players...I think from what I remember the QB was pretty darn good or maybe it was a back. Anyway... I think this is a not going to be a laydown on the road but if the Birds execute they shoudl get up early and get some guys some rest in the latter part of the 3rd qtr. The Birds are more explosive this year and I hope Dale lets Jordan run wild on em.

4A is definitely not what it used to be and with the Colonels joining the Birds next year... i don't expect it to change overnight. I think there is some hope though with their undefeated Frosh team. Lets hope there are atleast some competetive teams in the district. Its too bad with the Camels playing better football that they couldnt have been one of the teams joining the District.

Take care of biz on Friday Birds....

BTW... anybody have any injuries... on the mend...etc

If you ask me I think the Birds will be even better next year.....:ylsuper: :ylsuper:

How so? They lose a ton on the offensive line, and the kid that returns all the kicks and punts. And the kid that runs for most of the yards, and catches all the passes.

Couldn't agree more, if I'd have posted it myself. In fact, I have said similar things regarding Dixie and AAAA in general.
