Manual 21 PRP 14

Featured Replies

This was the 5 point super game for a reason.

This game literally went down to the last second. PRP's QB was flinging that ball a LOT in that last minute, and catches were being made, but they were all just short passes, and some of them didn't go out of bounds so precious seconds were ate up. The last second play got nowhere.

PRP proved they could still play some ball after the beatings they got the past two games. And Manual did what they needed to do and won.

I understand that Manual doesn't have the weapons that Male and St. X do, but I still hoped they could've scored a couple of more. It'd make me feel better going into the Male game. But then, PRP had to have been REALLY wanting this win.

GO RAMS!!!

Honestly, at the begining of the season, who would have seen this result? (other than myself, of course)

I finally got to see Manual play!

This game wasn't the most inspiring. Despite its competitiveness there seemed to be very little energy from the teams or the crowd. Maybe the cold weather played a role in that, but it left me wanting to see a little more out of my team.

PRP perform well offensively through most of the game. It took a int in the end zone to for Manual gather control of the game. PRP recievers should get credit for thier excellent concentration on the ball, they caught a couple of juggled balls that were impressive considering the coverage on them.

Offensively Manual played very well and consistantly. Defensively Manual seemed without bark or bite. A lot of missed tackles, and very little energy made Manual look very unManual like, however they did keep PRP to only two tds, so I'm possibly being a little to critical.

The officiating left me scratching my head on a few plays. There was a Manual break away run that was called out of bounds that I'd have loved to have a seen a reveiw of. Also I'm not sure PRP didn't get jipped by the running of the clock on the last series.

Several moments where officials were very indecisive in making calls in a timely fashion. If the last pass thrown was a reception, as it must have been deemed, then the clock should have been running and PRP was out of timeouts, GAME OVER! The ball did look to be incomplete and the ref nearest the play failed to signal one way or another. The Referee then came in and made the call and wound the clock whcih subsequently expired.

My real concern comes in when the officials seem to stop watching the areas of responsibility and in turn leave players unprotected. Several instances that the officails were out of position and reluctant to make a call. If there is such a demand for qualified officials then I am concerned that some are getting to call varsity games long before they are ready!!! I do not have a solution to the problem but hope that maybe someone out there (in a position to get things rolling) does.

Tonight was the Smith Brothers show, Jherray SR RB # 21 for PRP had 16 carries for 143 yds and a TD, along with 5 catches for 47 yards, while little brother Rhayven Jr RB # 5 for Manual had 13 carries for 161 yards and a TD.

Rhayven loses total offense in the brother battle, but has more rushing yards along with being on the winning team. Rhayven was very close to 2 receiving Td's both just out of reach with him open behind the safety. He also had 1 long run and was knocked out at the 6, another long run where he appeared to stay in bounds and break free for the TD, but was called out at around the 35.

Oh, and by the way, it was a very physical game with big hits and big plays. When will the Courier Journal or a news channel get an urge to cover a brother duo who competed in this game? Jherray Smith (PRP) and Rhayven Smith (MHS) both carried the ball for almost 150 yards each. Jherray had 16 carries for 143 net yards and Rhayven had 13 carries for 161 net yards. It was a chess match that went down to the last seconds and a punch-counter punch of a game. Maybe if these two played for Big 3 teams they would have been featured already.:thumb:

No need for snide comments. OBTW, If Manual defeated one of the Big 3 I would bet it would be featured. Congrats to the Rams on a big win. Is there any chance that PRP will miss the play-offs?

This game deserved to be a game of the week probably more than Trinity/Ballard, but PRP had already been in two games of the week vs Male and St X. Hence, second rate C-J coverage on what was one of the better games in the Louisville area last night.

Manual still has to play Male yet. And how exactly is that a snide comment??? It is no big secret that that best teams in the area always get the best coverage and for a reason, but bulls comments reflect the fact that there are lots of good players on good Louisville teams that should be noticed too.

Not as snide comment at all !!! Just my HONEST opinion, I am allowed to have an opinion am I not ?

PRP is now 0-3 in the district and looking at possibly missing the playoffs if they lose to Butler. A real crazy season in the district again. All the pre season hype for PRP may have raised the expectations a little too high. They are still a young team and can make noise the next few years. On the other hand, relatively low expectations for Manual this season and therefore less pressure to live up to the hype. This young team does not actually know how good they can be. A lot of mistakes on defense against PRP but still managed to keep them scoreless in the second half. A lot of big plays on offense mixed in with a solid ground game and the offense did enough to get the win with the third quarter TD pass.

Remember this summer when people were predicting PRP for a shot to win the district and Manual to finish below .500, outside of the playoffs behind Iroquois?

 Good times, good times.
