This thread reminds me of a BGP'er telling me last year that "...Omar Jacobs may be the best QB in America...."

Chris Leak = Omar Jacobs (umm, by the way, not in the NFL...shocking, I know)

How on Earth can anyone think Chris Leak will play QB in the NFL?

Because he has mechanics unlike many his age. Almost flawless, his problem is that he is only 6'0"

What cracks me up about Leak is he's one of the top QB's in the nation but his coach pulls him at the goaline for a running frosh, that has to sting a bit.

Don't you think, Leak's release is too long, for the speed of the NFL game?

Yeah, but that Frosh is a fullback with an arm...

Maybe, but I have been watching him a lot since 2000, and he seems to speed up to whatever speed he needs. He is extremely smart, I do think that the NFL guys will shorten his realease a bit, which also may help get a bit more zip on his ball. But he throws over his ear, with perfect rotation, someone will take a chance, thinking that they can change the bad.

I like him, had him rated fairly high, on the list of 10 that was offered.

I agree his size will be a deterrent, to a top selection but Flutie, Sipe, Tarkenton, etc....were less in size and athleticism.

Leak may be the only player in college football with a slower release then Woodson.

Both of them throw a nice, tight ball but they have to wind up before throwing it.

Okay, well let me be the first to say I don't care about Leak's mechanics, he'll not take a snap in the NFL at QB. That 6'0" is generous accoring to broadcasters each and every week, and the only parallels you can find are three guys in the last 36 years? I'll take my chances that I'm right.

Nice player. Probably get an invite to a camp -- not as a QB.

Unreal. Tebow has thrown about 10 college passes and he makes this list? Comical. McCoy? Mustain? The guy that was about 5 for 30 two games ago? He's top 10 in America? Come on folks, you guys are better than this.

Brohm is miles ahead of most of the guys you're throwing around. Quinn is as well. Heck, Zac Taylor is miles ahead of many of these guys, and none of you mentioned him. Leak, an NFL QB? Are these guys serious?

If were going by how good they are as a college qb an not by how they may go in the draft, I think Zac Taylor has to be Top 10. Severly underrated. Petey Carroll even said that he was a big time NFL prospect, althought that coulda just been coach speak.

That he's top 10? The NFL part I can see but he's not top 10? I know we live in KY and the huskers arent on here very much but if you dont think he is a Top 10 qb then you need to watch them some more.

My Top 10 QB's:

1 - Brady Quinn

2 - Brian Brohm

3 - Chad Henne

4 - Chris Leak

5 - John David Booty

6 - Tyler Palko

7 - Eric Ainge

8 - Jeff Rowe

9 - Troy Smith

10 - Drew Stanton

* - I tried to factor in their NFL ability as well, I don't see much of a future for Troy Smith as an NFL QB.

Pretty solid list.

As you know RP, I have been a fan of Henne since he started his frosh year. Most of the really good QB's in college either have a good running game to go along with them, or the QB is good statisitcally because of the system. The former tend to project higher and better, IMO, on draft boards.

Henne has struggled when Hart has been hurt and I think he has been stifled with the conservative nature of their offense.

As for Woodson, he has greatly improved and I would think he is a top 30ish QB as of now and if he can improve from this year to next year, then his stock goes way up. However, he is not mobile at all.

Brian, Brady, Chad, & Troy in that order all the rest are in a different class. I see Troy as a NFL QB. 157 ... Jamarcus Russell is his name played high school in Alabama. He had a very good year last year, this year he has slipped some.

I would not want to have to defend against him in a one game set..... He will eat UK for lunch, dinner and midnight snack by the end of the 1st quarter Sat. down in Baton Rouge..... He will have over 300 yrs passing and 75 rushing against the cats....... He is good and the UK defense is as soft as they come. I will try to catch more of the LSwho games on tv the remainder of the year.
