That's interesting. Earlier this season when he went out, I never heard what kind of injury it was or if it were an injury. So it's funny that you say that.

After seeing some of the Twitter posts from DeSales people aimed at Stefan Lefors all I can say is that some people need to learn to lose with dignity.

 

An addendum, the attacking tweets were aimed at Lefors in tweets regarding his inclusion in the ring of fame at PJCS, nothing whatsoever to do with the CAL/DeSales game.

Good point. I suspect that all of us from Ashland to Mayfiled, Middlesboro to Owensboro, Louisville to Bowling Green, and all points in between need to remember it’s just a game. We can all do better in handling defeat with dignity and victory with graciousness.

I am not one to comment on anything on BGP threads and never thought I would. But I feel that this should be said. After seeing watching CAL do what they did on Friday night it is hard to lose with dignity. Watching their players AND coaches cheer after hurting the DeSales quarterback on a late hit, hearing Stefan yell at our corner saying "You suck, yeah you number 11 you suck", after getting the trophy the CAL team stomp/spit on our logo. Now I am not saying that this gives the DeSales community to tweet inappropriate tweets at CAL. Yes those tweets should NEVER happen against any school. I am all for the rivalry between DeSales vs. CAL but it has gone to far and I hope both schools clean up their act in the years to come.

Can’t comment on anything said by a coach. I was 20 rows up. If true it is impossible to defend. With regard to celebrating on an opponents field, I personally sat in the stands and watched DeSales celebrate on CAL’s field in 2012, 2013, and 2014. An argument can be made that DeSales taught CAL how to celebrate on an opponents field. Now this post may be met with responses that disagree and talk about how DeSales is the epitome of class and CAL is everything that is wrong in the world and I understand those emotions. We all see what we want to see whether it is through red or orange colored glasses. We think Our team is righteous and our opponents evil, our team plays for the name on the front not on the back of the jersey, our team just wants it more and our opponent doesn’t, our team is a band of brothers and our opponent just a bunch of individuals. The point is that if you look at the history of posts on this site you can always tell who lost the game by the tone. Negative posts almost never happen after wins. It is usually the pain of defeat that stirs the negative post emotions. Good luck to DeSales. Great coach, great program, great players, and yes, Great fans. No matter how much we may deny it the players of DeSales and CAL are a whole lot more alike than they are different. So are the fans. We as fans, me included, should do a better job leading by example.

If true, LeFors should be suspended for the rest of the year. A grown man talking like that to a KID? Are you serious?

I don't want to say anything over the line but I'll just say this...

 

A coach should never trash an opposing high school player and no one should ever celebrate an injury. That is across the line.

 

And I'm not saying that happened because I wasn't there. I'm just saying in general, that's going too far.

Lol... knee injury... that's funny. I wonder if this new feud between DS and Cal will spur some of the DS folks to spill the beans? I would imagine they have known the true story all along. Pretty high brow of them to keep mum on the issue all this time.

There are always 2 sides to every story. CAL never spit on the logo after the game. They received their trophy after the game right next to the logo and celebrated as a team - to the left of the logo, not on top of it. As for during the game, I have a hard time believing he would say anything to a player on the field. The hit on the QB was clean and right as the QB released the ball. The ball went out of bounds and the CAL coaching staff was wanting a flag for intentional grounding, not celebrating an injured player, come on now. As soon as they saw the player was injured they immediately called their team to the sideline and told everyone to take a knee. Everyone clapped as the QB left the field.

 

As the game went on, adult fans began standing against the railing calling players by name and yelling personal attacks. As CAL left the field they were cursed at and threatened by adults.

 

It’s always important to remember that we shouldn’t throw stones from a glass house.
