#1 Danville at #8 Glasgow (2A State Semifinals)
Titletowner replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
What is Glasgow's signature win? I do not put much stock into comparisons, but I saw Glasgow lost to Allen Co-Scottsville. ACS lost to Pulaski Co who Danville handled quite easily. I think it will be interesting to see if Glasgow can trade punches with Danville who can strike so quickly. -

If true, LeFors should be suspended for the rest of the year. A grown man talking like that to a KID? Are you serious? -

I heard it was a knee injury, but also heard he was suspended. Radio silence from the CAL folks.... -

My understanding is Glasgow has the most dominant offensive lineman Danville has seen all year. I would like to know more about the team as well -

What has been wrong with the CAL quarterback? I know he has been out for part of the year. It's been unclear whether it was an injury or suspension.... -
Is Prepspin airing LCA vs. Danville?
-
LCA has great coaches and tremendous players. Without question. However, this game plays into Danville's hands. Nieves is an incredible player and losing him will hurt on myriad levels. My concern for LCA is that it gets behind schedule and Danville continues to hit big plays. Can LCA trade punches? Look for LCA to pound it with Wheatley to shorten the game and show more pressure to get Danville behind schedule as well. BTW, I think LCA losing their big LT is a significant loss, too. I think the key matchup is the right side of LCA's line vs. Christian Hill. Whoever wins that battle will go a long way toward the outcome of this game. Gonna be a war and I'm sure LCA will fight like crazy.

Again, I'm asking for a signature win for Boyle? Respectfully, I'm just not sure how Lafayette (or Bourbon Co.) play(s) a role in this discussion? For me, I think rankings would be something like: LCA Frederick Douglass Tates Creek Somerset Wayne Co. LexCath Collins BTW, now I see Belfry lost it's best player (star running back/defensive captain at LB). Talk about the planets lining up for you. It's idle talk now, however. Time to put up or shut up for both of us. Gotta jump, Cat.

I was more referring to Boyle's non-conference schedule, LexCath being down and, above all, your path to Lexington. Not trying to be argumentative, but what is Boyle's signature win or biggest wins? Wayne Co.? Collins? LexCath? Boyle is a great team that has grown significantly every week. You are likely the favorite to win it all. However, Danville did play two good 6A schools, Somerset and a very good LCA team. I just don't see those type of opponents on Boyle's schedule. First, I think we can both agree Boyle and Danville would win 4A going away. It's the state's weakest class. Wayne Co., Collins would not be competitive against us and they were clearly not in your case. Again, that's not an indictment of Boyle, it just is a fact this particular season. Western Hills is just not good and Lex Cath is down, especially on defense. Both of us can sit here and mine down on statistics, but we both know Etown ain't beating you. It's one game left for the Rebels and I hope you finish. Danville will have all they can handle this week. It will be a war. Let's agree that we both want to put the "Title" back in Titletown.

Rooting to have a true "Title Town" again as well. I'm hopeful you can travel over to see your Rebels. I'm just calling it like I see it, Hatz. It's not Boyle's fault their opponents are just not good. It just is what it is, sir. Hell, take advantage of it and get to Lexington. LCA will give Danville all they want. Feel terrible for their starting QB. Seems like a great kid with a bright future. Agree the Danville/LCA winner should have a relatively easy semifinal game. No argument there. VERY surprised both NewCath and Lloyd Memorial lost.

#2 Boyle County vs. Western Hills (3A Second Round)
Titletowner replied to charlesw88's topic in KY Football (High School)
First off, best of luck tonight vs. Western Hills. You won't break a sweat until Lexington, but hopefully you can get some kids playing time and work on other facets of your game that need sharpening. The Danville vs. Boyle discussion was brought into the fray after another poster tacitly suggested Boyle would beat Danville if the game were played later in the year, etc. To be sure, I'm merely passing along what Chuck Smith said to make my point about Danville winning up front. I did not say it. Chuck Smith said it. Not sure why you are taking umbrage with me? It's your coach. Is what he said "rude and disrespectful" or just me? I completely understand if I personally make disparaging remarks about the kid. I did not. To repeat, I'm basing my point off of what Chuck Smith said. I would also say, what harm does it do? So kids should not hear criticism, even if it's true? You can't sugar coat it sometimes, Coach. Bramel did need to hear that from Smith both then and for the future. It's true that opposing Big Ten DL will be much bigger, stronger, etc. And, by the way, it cuts both ways. "Hey guys, we lost tonight because you couldn't defeat blocks and tackle Rees McShara who ran for a country mile." "We lost because Josiah Robbins threw FIVE interceptions." "Jeremy Sleet made you look silly tonight guys." You see my point. You seem like a very nice guy, and I respect your opinion, but I hope you can respect mine. BTW, you mention that it's rude and disrespectful to mention a kid by name. You further mention that you are a coach and father. Honest question here. I've followed Bluegrass Preps for years and noticed a very strong presence of Boyle fans (one has posted over 9k times - wow). Do you think it's strange or weird when they start following them when they are young? To me, it's a little alarming how much fawning there is over barely teenage kids. I saw that with the Gervacio kid, Josiah Robbins, etc. I get it when when they are upperclassman and you say, "Tamme dominated tonight. Great kid who played lights out." However, when you have posters following around middle school kids it seems a little creepy and borderline improper. As a coach and, above all, father I was curious about your thoughts. Obviously you are very passionate about things being said about players, but what about when grown adults are over-the-top about middle school kids, even if it's complimentary? -
#2 Boyle County vs. Western Hills (3A Second Round)

Sorry, my mistake. I interpreted your post as saying Danville is merely pursuing the lesser 2A crown. That's on me. In conclusion, I hope both Boyle County teams win it. It's incredible for the community. Again, my concern was Boyle's opponents, after Danville, are just not good. Just call it like it is. I hope that does not come back to haunt them in Lexington. That is all. -

My point was that, surprisingly, Chuck Smith called out Will Bramel at halftime to see if he had an answer for Christian Hill. While there are several layers of hearsay, it sounds like Bramel acknowledged, by silence, he was getting worked by Hill. Not sure what label to attach, but that sounds like your best lineman was responsible early for the lack of Boyle production.
