I see they only beat Oldham County by 10 or something? But they did destroy most everyone else they played including Doss. Could you elaborate on "one of the best in the state"?

 

Seems strange because I feel like Highlands could have beaten Oldham County by a lot more.

If your going to compare scores, which I hate doing, I wouldn't focus too much on the Oldham County game. Rivalry games are typically games that the score can be misleading. I think this game will be close, but the South Oldham/Oldham County score tells me nothing as far as who is the better team between South Oldham and Highlands.

 

I will say that South Oldham is a really solid team (there is a reason they're ranked #4) and it would likely take Highlands best effort of the season to beat them. Highlands seems to be peaking at the right time though and I think they will keep it close. If this game were being played at Highlands I could see a potential upset, but it's not being played at Highlands.

I wouldn't say they're one of the best in the state, but they are one of the best in 5A. That said, with the exception of Cov Cath and Bowling Green, I really don't think any other 5A teams would be considered one of the best in the state. Like I said I don't like comparing scores, but if you really wanna look at scores the recent 42-0 win over Shelby County tells more about where South Oldham stands at this point in time than their 16-6 win over rival Oldham County early in the season.

 

South Oldham has a solid team and if anyone thinks Highlands is just going to walk all over them then they are going to be in for a surprise, even with Highlands playing really well at this point in the season.

One kid isn't going to win a game for either team, it's going to take a team effort to win what should be a battle. As far as a 4.2 40 goes though, you won't find a single player in the state that can run a 4.2 40, so that's a weird analogy in its own.

I'm a 4A guy, but I call it like I see it. So if you're looking for 5A hype you're wasting you're time with my responses. You're the one that wants to compare scores, not I. I actually hate that philosophy when it comes to ranking teams. Especially when you're looking at early season scores.

I'll go with South Oldham in this one. They are a very physical team and I think that will give Highlands some trouble.

 

Granted, Boone played Highlands in a very cold rain and that probably hampered Highland's passing game but I think South Oldham's will control the LOS on both sides of the ball. This will keep the ball in S Oldham's possession and out of Highland's hands.

 

S Oldham will win by 2 TDS.

How is SO’s running game?

 

I did some research, Birds need to play their best game of the year.

 

South Oldham Co. looks good on paper. SOS is a big question.

 

National rank is 2206/ KY state rank is 30.

Keaton Martin is #12 of 20 rushing per game, has 13TD"s and 103 YPG.

 

Drew Zaubi is #17 of 20. He has completed 52 passes for 935 yards with 2 interceptions and 16 TD"s.

 

Team is #3 of 20 in scoring @ 41.5 per game.

 

This should be a very exciting game, for sure.

S. Oldham's D gives up 112 rushing and 62 yards passing per game on average.

South Oldham held Lucas Jones to 20 yards and he rushed for 120 against Highlands. their rush D may give Highlands some issues and SO running game will give Highlands fits

Will Cramer be playing qb for the Birds this week? If so I will pick Highlands. He adds another dimension to the Birds offense..

This could be a shoot out if Highlands plays well. Their passing game is good. South will control the clock and Highlands isn’t good against the run.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I don't know how you can put Schollman back in. Grady provides that spark and has the Birds playing better and better. Nothing against Carl but what does he do better than Grady at this point? I get that maybe Grady just wasn't ready at the start of the season which is why they went with Carl but he looks much better now and Carl hasn't done anything to keep the job or to wow you as the season progressed.

Matt Moore came in to the Dolphins game a couple weeks ago when Cutler got hurt and looked like an All-Pro QB. The next week when he started, he looked like a 3rd string QB.

I don't disagree with you but Grady has passed the eye test out on the field when I've seen him play IMO, BUT I'm not at practice day in and day out. There has to be something we're missing I'd guess.
