Pole dancing could be on track to becoming an Olympic sport

 

The International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF), which has officially existed since 2009, has been granted “observer status” by the Global Association of International Sports Federation (GAISF) which officially recognizes activities as a sport. This move will allow the pole sports federation to apply for the Olympics once they are full members. National pole dancing groups can now also apply for official recognition as a sport on the national level.

 

FoosBall, Dodgeball and Arm Wrestling have been given the same designation as well.

Which would you rather see in the Olympics?

I know NBC has the tv rights to the Olympics, but if Dodgeball becomes an olympic sport I wish they would give up the rights for that sport so it could be on ESPN The Ocho.

Can you imagine the pole dancers, that would be special.

So, does that mean pole dancing will be an amateur sport in the NCAA? Maybe Louisville could use that defense in their NCAA appeal.

This. Dodgeball would be awesome, and I voted for it, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be fascinated and totally tuned in to watch the pole dancing competition. :lol2:

Pole dancing, because there's a chance I'd know some of the Olympians.

There are those who do have standards.

I believe the talent pool would be weighted more towards the young women who are earnestly working their way through college.

Pole dancing is the only one I would not want to be added. Another random activity with no subjective means to measure your accomplishment. Beat your opponent outright or don't call it a competition. Get rid of gymnastics, ice skating etc.
