Tigerpride94 Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Covington Catholic (6-0), 139.5 Male (5-1), 134.5 Boyle County (5-1), 130.5 Lexington Christian (6-0), 127.0 Trinity (6-0), 126.2 St. Xavier (5-0), 124.8 Danville (6-0), 123.3 DeSales (5-0), 121.5 Butler (4-2), 121.1 Scott County (4-2), 120.6 Simon Kenton (6-0), 119.2 Christian Academy (4-1), 118.4 PRP (4-1), 116.9 Bowling Green (4-2), 114.7 Mayfield (5-1), 112.4 Frederick Douglass (4-1), 111.8 Elizabethtown (4-1), 111.8 Ballard (3-3), 111.0 Ryle (4-1), 110.3 Corbin (4-1), 110.1 Covington Catholic tops new Litkenhous Ratings The flaw in these ratings is the SOS component. If you take out starters and don’t blow out weak teams you drop. Trinity got hurt by taking it easy on J-Town. You add your margin of victory or loss to the rating of each team you played. Add that all up and divide by number of games( Don’t use out of state opponents) played. This will give you rating.
All Tell Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 I have less of an issue with CovCath being ranked 1 then with Trinity dropping all the way to 5th, behind Male who they shut out. More proof that this outdated formula needs to die.

Tigerpride94 Posted September 25, 2017 Author Posted September 25, 2017 Cal Preps seem to be the best because it incorporates out of state games.
theguru Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Cal Preps seem to be the best because it incorporates out of state games. Anything has to be better than this garbage.
WESTSIDE Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 How about Lexington Christian being ahead of Trinity? This stuff is so bad, who in the world would pay for this garbage. Lexington Christian fans.
theguru Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Lexington Christian fans. And I assume the Courier Journal.
All Tell Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 The LIT ratings are a remnant of a time gone by when no one ever played anyone outside their region of the state
JC Alumni 76 Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Any ranking without Trinity as #1 isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Quality work courier journal!
Coltcity Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Due to running clock and taking out the starters against a sub par team will hurt your calculation in the Lit rankings. Yes, no Trinity in the #1 spot makes it hard to swallow these rankings....
Darkwing Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 This is hilarious stuff. Trinity is obviously the top team in KY. Ignoring out of state results might have been good stuff in the 70s, but now, playing out of state teams is how you make your name.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 How about Lexington Christian being ahead of Trinity? Silliness.
Rebelstat Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I'm a Boyle fan but do not think they should be ranked higher than Trinity. Boyle is ranked 3rd in this poll and ranked 3rd in 3A go figure.
thsrocks Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I guess the Rocks will simply have to do better. Back in 1977, Mayfield came out first ahead of Trinity and the head coach, Dave Moore, was wondering out loud during typing class how to get a game with the Cardinals.
