This is the best the defense has looked this year. The offense looked good as well. A good all around dominating performance by the Cats tonight.

Congrats to the Tomcats on the win and I hope that the GCHS kids keep their heads up - better days and seasons are ahead for them.

Upset of the week? Naaahhhh. Ashland came to play tonight. A lot of yellow flags in the first half with and ejection of a GC player made me think back to my days when they were the dirtiest team we played. But both teams kept their composure in the second half as the Cats cruised to the easy win. Everyone got to play and the 2nd and 3rd string defensive players kept GC's #1 offense from scoring late in the game to preserve the goose egg.

They have come a long way since that first game. Offensively and defensively they looked the best so far this year.

Great game on both sides of the ball for the Tomcats. Greenup Co. probably had negative yards in the first half. Their lines were just totally over matched. Mahan had a nice game with 130 yards passing, 49 yards rushing, and 3 TD's. McDavid had 7 catches for 72 yards, and needs only 3 receptions to become Ashlands All-time reception leader, and had an 80 yard punt return for a TD! Matt Thomas had another great game, he only had 9 carries but finished with 92 yards and a TD. Great win, on to Mason Co.

The Tomcats had a short field basically all night. If Greenup's O could have moved the ball a little Ashland's O would have had a longer field and a lot more yards. Thomas could have ran for 200 easy if the pace of the game would have been different. He still ran hard and the holes were huge!

According to the radio crew, GC had 10 yards total offense in the first half and ended with a little over 100. Matt still had an excellent game with 90+ yards on only 9 carries.

:thumb: I agree 100% cville, I stated this when practically everyone was trashing them after the first game. They weren't a bad football team then and they are much better now. Good Luck to the Tomcats the rest of the way and into and hopefully through the playoffs.
