Here are a couple of maps showing the cloud cover and precipitation map. For now, there seems to be a chance that some in WKY may not have a good view of the eclipse. Both of these maps are centered around 2 pm EDT on Monday. They also show the path of the eclipse.

Looks good for my 98.8% view from Somerset.

 

They just cancelled school for Monday here, so my daughter and I will be looking for a good spot to watch from. Too many trees at home, we'll probably go to the parking lot at the school.

Nelson Co. Schools has called off classes that day for the event. Bardstown Schools will take a short recess for kids to go outside and view it, and they will add 20 minutes onto that school day. Don't know what Bethlehem HS and the other Catholic schools in Nelson Co. will be doing.

You are too close to the zone of totality to miss it! You all should travel to see it!

@nWo, is that region of the eclipse that goes through Missouri clear that day? I may travel that way, if needed.

I thought about it, but my wife has to work and from everything I've heard it is going to be nuts out west. We may drive that way 40 or 50 miles to get some closer, but I'm probably not going to fight that mess for that last 1% :lol2:

I understand if it ends up being cloudy not driving a crazy distance like me to see it, but you are already sooooo close. I can't explain to you how much you want to see the real thing, not the 99% thing.

I'm heading 160 miles south of my Owsley home to watch it in Cookeville, Tennessee. Probably be 4 of us. Got my eclipse protection glasses and ready to depart at 7 am Monday.

I understand, I'll talk it over with my daughter to see if she's up for it. I may head to TN instead of WKY if we go looking for it.

This mornings GFS is showing Missouri with varying degrees of cloud cover. Some areas have 25 to 44% cloud cover. As of this morning it's not looking good to see the total eclipse in southern Illinois, western Kentucky or parts of western Missouri. The GFS is also now showing 99% cloud cover in western Kentucky and parts of southern Illinois.

20-40% cloud cover in the Cookeville area is possible.
