Fort Wright Golden Corral temporary closed by Health Dept.

Featured Replies

FORT WRIGHT, KY (FOX19) -The northern Kentucky Health Department was forced to temporarily close a Golden Corral after the restaurant stayed open for hours without water. The incident left some diners without an appetite.

Danny Purnell stopped at the Fort Wright Golden Corral Friday and noticed that the soda was flat and the servers were running low on clean utensils. He knew something was off, but didn’t put it together until he went into the bathroom.

"I look at all the urinals there's three on the wall full. All gold, gold, gold,” Purnell said. And that wasn’t the worst part, Purnell claims.

He took photos showing full toilets that wouldn’t flush. A bucket of water with a sign reading “hand washing station” was sitting next to the broken sink.

"It was kind of brown looking and I was like ‘I ain't sticking my hands in that.’ I go back to the table and I told my wife that they don't have no water here,” Purnell said.

Several complaints prompted the health department to pay a visit to the Golden Corral.

I know some people don't care for Golden Corral wherever it is, but this one in particular is repulsive. It's amazing how awful it is compared to how nice the one in Florence is. Night and day.

Manager should be fired immediately. Unacceptable.

I saw some of the photos on facebook -- glad to see it's getting additional attention. This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable.

The "handwashing station" bucket is such an awful idea it's almost comical.

If they were nasty enough to do this I can only imagine what the kitchen and coolers looked like. Not to mention the condition of the food being prepared.

Can't imagine dining in a Golden Corral.

Anyone who eats at Golden Death Trap deserves what they get.

Are you sure that wasn't just part of their "chocolate fountain"?

Are we supposed to be surprised a place where people go to eat until they can't move has plumbing issues?

I liken this, though more severe, to a video I saw today about a Waffle House which failed its health inspection.

I love Golden Corral. I've eaten at them probably 8 -10 times. Yes, I've eaten so much there I honestly didn't know if I was going to make it to my truck.

I don't eat it a lot, but I did stop going to the Fort Wright location a long time ago.

I have eaten at a few Golden Corrals in the past. Can't say I have ever had a bad experience that I remember...but can't say any of them have ever been great either. I have been in a couple that were far from optimally clean though.

It is what it is. Food troughs with the occasional decent item.
