With the crime rate sky rocketing in Louisville at this moment, can't blame the kid for going elsewhere.

EXACTLY!! Until UofL (specifically Petrino) starts to take notice of the talent this in this state, and in a lot of cases less than 15 mins away from PJ stadium, I hope players to continue to go elsewhere. There is a great story in yesterday's LCJ on this exact subject which highlights how UofL virtually ignores players right under their nose and keeps running to Florida to get players.

To be fair though, one of the best teams UL ever had was largely due to some serious talent Petrino kept in state.

Brohm and Bush were great. They were the exception, not the rule, when talking about KY HS talent.

There's no guarantee that rushing down and getting a kid from FL means automatic wins. You blew your argument when Moore chose Texas and to go play for a much better coach and a better offensive philosophy. If he is good enough for Texas he certainly is worthy of of a heavy pursuit from the team that's 10 mins away. Rondale's comments in the LCJ article sums it up.

Louisville is absolutley loaded at WR for the next several years. You'd probably complain if Louisville took him and he didn't get much time on the field, wouldn't you? Also, saying Herman is a better coach and has a better offensive philosophy is a bit of a stretch and incredibly pre-mature.

It has to do with simply recruiting the talent in State which they seem to just ignore even if they are one of the top players in the country. So you tell me, first you insinuate that Moore is one of the top WRs in the State/country but not as good as a FL player then you come back and say they are loaded at WR. Louisville does just fine recruiting in state talent when that talent fits a need that they have. Brohm, Bush, Eric Shelton, Victor Anderson, Doug Beaumont, DeVante Parker, Reggie Bonnafon, the list goes on and on...

 

I never said he wasn't as good as some hypothetical kid from Florida. My point is simply that I don't think either of the big state schools should be obligated to pursue an in state kid just because he is from Kentucky.

 

As for your coaching rant, you clearly have an issue with Petrino/UL, so I'm not going to waste much of my breath there. Herman has been extremely successful coaching in C-USA and playing 1-2 good teams a year this point. I definitely think he has the potential to get UT back to where they've been, but if two games in one season makes your mind up, your bias is even more clear.

Sorry I don't count walk-ons. He's inked 5 players from the State in 4 years. Again, I have no bias and no idea how many KY players is a "right" number to have on scholarship. My entire point in this was the article by LCJ which focused on arguably the 2 best players in the State and their comments/perspectives about not being given much attention especially being 10 minutes from the school, not mine.

 

UofL will be a solid program with or without KY players obviously and Petrino will certainly do what he thinks is best for his team. My opinion, not rant, is Moore chose the right program with the better coach just like the #1 player from KY for 2019 (Herron) will do as he doesn't have UofL in his final 10. If you don't recruit the one's in your own backyard they're not coming. Not looking for you to agree as you're certainly a Petrino supporter and that's ok.

I understand your point. Would I like to have every top kid from Kentucky? Sure. But I tend to trust the guys that do it for a living when they don't pursue one of these kids as much as another school. My argument is that UofL and UK should not be raked over the coals when they don't get the top in state talent year in and year out. Just because a player is the top kid in Kentucky doesn't mean he automatically fits into either school's plan at the time.
