:lol2: Well I've got a pair of Redwings, a hardhat, safety glasses, ear protection and a reflective vest in my car for anytime I have to make a site visit.

When I started playing little league basketball all I had was chucks to wear.

First pair was P. F. "Bob Cousy"s. Stopped wearing them in protest. My ten year old self was mad at Cousy for gutting the Royals by trading Robertson and Lucas (loved me some Beef 'n Shakes).

 

Mowed a lot of lawns for a succession of Chuck OX's through junior high. The last got me through freshman XC and track. Then 30+ years in "The Shoes Who Must Not Be Named," from Oregon.

 

Five years ago as a bold(?) fashion statement, bought a pair of All Star high-tops in classic black. Light as air. If noticed, they elicit either "the nod," a smirk, or a giggle. Don't care. If super-casual, I'm rollin' in Chucks.

I was more a bata bullet wearer as a kid. I was happy with them then.

You kidding me? It's a seminal moment in my childhood. Moved up from the Converse "Coach" brand to the Converse All-Stars in 4th grade at Burlington Elementary in 1972. Big day! Navy blue.

Now keep in mind I think 99% of all the basketball shoes people drool over and shell out hundreds of $$ for are ridiculous looking, so I'm probably not the best one to gauge the "coolness" of shoes.

 

Chucks were far and away the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever worn though.

Just not my style. 90% of the time I go out I either wear dress shoes/boots or Sperry's. Chuck's are the hipster style which I am not.
