mexitucky
Why do so many people have handicap parking stickers/tags now???? I watch them get out of their cars and they are fine. Most are really heavy, but not wheel chair bound or walking with assistance. It is getting ridiculous. Being obese is not a disease. It is a life choice for 99% of obese people Rant ended. mexitucky
No. Sorry to hear that. In her case, she needs it. I think that you'd agree that it is incredibly abused.
MJAlltheWay24
Saw someone share something on FB during lunch today. Someone that has Cystic Fibrosis and has a handicap sticker because of it, but often gets dirty looks or ridiculed because they don't appear handicapped. I don't judge people who have handicap stickers. They might look fine but could be in a lot of pain you never know.

You are a better person than me. I judge and I would be upset if I needed a handicap spot to see a seemingly healthy person walk out of their car without any help/assistance when I need help/assistance. Hey I used to think just like you, then I realized that I don't have a clue what others are going through...not my job to judge or ridicule them either. Are some overweight people just lazy, sure. Are some overweight people overweight due to medical issues beyond their control, yes.

Are some overweight people just lazy, sure. Are some overweight people overweight due to medical issues beyond their control, yes. I don't ridicule. I just feel angry that people that didn't ask for their physical disability are not able to park where they need to due to spots being taken by those who don't truly need stickers, but need lifestyle changes. Go to Kroger in Newport on a busy day, you'll see what I mean. It frustrates me.

Are some overweight people just lazy, sure. Are some overweight people overweight due to medical issues beyond their control, yes. Most people are overweight due to lack of education into nutrition. That falls on their shoulders, the shoulders of their parents, and on the government for allowing food companies to continue to lie about what is in their foods, while also putting forth bad education on what a healthy diet is. With internet access, people can educate themselves and ask questions pretty easily to get answer they need.

You look at an overweight person and dismiss them as making bad choices. Could be a bad back that doesn't allow them to exercise and has caused a weight gain, a failing heart or any of a 100 other conditions. I agree some abuse it, but unless you know the person personally you have no idea what their issue is.
TheDeuce
My mom has been going through chemo and can barely walk to the bathroom and back without being out of breath. I told her she needs to see about at least getting a temporary one.

I'm sorry, but my family is evidence that people can make great health choices and still be obese. I'm considered obese by BMI standards. I get plenty of excercise, my vitals are all excellent. But I often struggle to walk because if issues with my knees, hips and ankles. I don't have a handicapped sticker. My mother is obese, has crippling arthritis and has since her 30'a. My daughter is obese, has great health indicators, but has PCOS. My brother used to be obese, and I recently, jealously remared on his weight loss. Turns out he was doing meth. Almost everyone on my mom's side of the family is (or was) obese. My grandparents lived into their 90's, my mom's sister is approaching 80 and my mom is approaching 75.
