May 17, 20179 yr Author I personally think if you stay at a Disney resort you should get extra fast passes. Not a bad idea really.
May 17, 20179 yr One thing that seems like an advantage to staying at a resort that really isn't is the entering one park each day before the park is open to non guest. That park is slammed first thing in the morning because everyone else has the same idea. We just go to a park that isn't opening early for guest and go in right when it opens...way less crowded than going to the early opening park.
May 18, 20179 yr My best advice to give anyone is to not go and go somewhere else instead. We stopped going once they completely ruined the experience by changing the way FastPass works. You used to be able to easily hit all the major rides in a single park in a day. No more. Now you are limited in the number of major rides you can choose per day. The changes are obviously designed to keep you staying in their hotels and in their parks longer. But the changes also force you to completely plan every minute of every day of your stay, ruining any spontaneity or last-minute changes due to weather, etc. You will spend your whole trip trying to stay on track with your FastPass schedule instead of enjoying your vacation. Completely false. You can make your fast passes 60 days in advance if you are a resort guest so no more running in the morning to get fast passes. You only get three to start the day but once you use those three you can keep making them all day long. The new fastpass is WAY better. It's just all on your phone and magic band now instead of having to keep track of pieces of paper. Before, all of the major attraction fast passes would be sold out until the evening after roughly 10 o clock. It's also not like you could send one member of the family to each attraction to get fast passes as soon as the morning started because you have to have all of the park tickets/ room keys in order to get the fastpasses and you could only have one fastpass at a time. I remember when I was younger I would take all of the room keys, run ahead and get fastpasses for Space Mountain. Ride it standby, then ride it fastpass. Then by the time we could get to one of the other attractions the first fastpass time available would be 4-5 hours later. The new way is WAY more efficient and allows you to ride more rides at times that accomodate your schedule a lot better. Also if you don't like having to plan a trip then Disney is not the place for you. You almost have to plan out your trips unless you want to be standing in line all day and eating only quick service meals. well, well... let's see what I posted to earn the "completely false" rating. Let's do a little fact-checking..... Completely false. You can make your fast passes 60 days in advance if you are a resort guest. Thank-you for proving my point. 2 months before you go, you have to decide exactly what rides and at what times you will have to go on them. No more day-of decisions, no more freedom. It's unnecessary over-planning. so no more running in the morning to get fast passes. that was how you could maximize the system and be more efficient. More on how that worked later. You only get three to start the day but once you use those three you can keep making them all day long. The new fastpass is WAY better. The old system didn't limit you either. You could make as many as you wanted all day long, if you knew how the system worked. It's just all on your phone and magic band now instead of having to keep track of pieces of paper. Because I love trying to walk around a family of 8 shuffling their feet in the middle of the walk-way because they all have their heads buried in their phones. Now, for the main event It's also not like you could send one member of the family to each attraction to get fast passes as soon as the morning started because you have to have all of the park tickets/ room keys in order to get the fastpasses and you could only have one fastpass at a time.. ^^^^^^^^^^^C O M P L E T E L Y^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^FALSE^^^^^^^^^^ Yes you could, we did it every trip!! This is how we could be so efficient. The fast pass window was 50 minutes. You mean you can't get from 1 end of the park to the other in 50 minutes?? And the trick was, as soon as your FP time started, you could go FP another ride. Which means it worked like this... enter park>>> FP Soaring ride other rides on stand-by as soon as FP for Soaring begins, FP Test Track return to ride Soaring on FP repeat all day long with next major ride You then filled in your schedule based on your FP times. It worked great! You gave all the tickets to one person and they hustled across the park and took care of everyone while they were riding another (minor) attraction. The new way is WAY more efficient and allows you to ride more rides at times that accomodate your schedule a lot better. really? Tell me...can you realistically ride Soaring and Test Track on the same day with the new FP system? How about Rock n Roller Coaster and Great Movie Ride? Because you could with the old system. Don't you see what this is designed to do?? It is purposely making you less efficient to make you stay longer and spend more money. Also if you don't like having to plan a trip then Disney is not the place for you... That's the thing - I don't need a system to plan my trips, I was awesome at it! We knew when to go and we knew how to play the FP system. We were so efficient we could hit all the parks and all the attractions in half the time it takes "regular" park visitors. I feel bad for people like you. You believe FP+ is this great system...when it is actually a level of control, designed to bleed you dry and limit your choices and freedom. And the sad part is, you don't see it. Putting it on your phone distracts you from what really is going on.
May 18, 20179 yr My question is, if you don't enjoy or like Disney, why on Earth would you come into a thread about what to do at Disney? :idunno:
May 18, 20179 yr dallaslaredo: Of course you can ride Soaring and Test Track on the same day with the new FP system. You would have FP for everyone in your family before you walk in the door for both attractions - plus one more attraction (pick Mission Space or the Frozen ride). I am not sure you understand what you are talking about.
May 18, 20179 yr Like this. Fast pass Rock n Roller Coaster Go straight to Buzz Light Year and ride it. Cant fastpass both but you can fastpass one and not have to worry about the other and just go straight to it and get it over with.

With the old fastpass system I once rode soarin 4 times and test track 2x in one day without ever standing in a long line. That can't be done now. My wife was a wizard in the old system.

May 18, 20179 yr You rode Soarin 4 times and test track 2 times by getting fast passes? The first soarin was just walk in as the park was open. The rest was fast pass wizardry by the missus.

I'm 100% sure about my post.... you may want to look into why your post is making you look like you haven't ever been to Disney under the FP+ system.

Finally, a fellow efficient ear head who knew how to work the old system. I did the same thing may times.

Putting it on your phone distracts you from what really is going on. Everything you said is still completely false. Not even worth debating you if you think that running in the park is more efficient than just planning it two months in advance. Obviously you don't know the definition of efficient. Also you can still have as many as you want in a day as long you use the first 3 First. After that you can make it like the old system where you can just keep making them all day at available times. Why don't you just take a while and go read the Disney info on the fastpass system and get back to me. Also I LITERALLY just rode Soarin and Test Track on the same day using fastpass. I rode Test Track fast pass in the morning I think at 10:30, then after we used our other two I made another one for Soarin at ~ 8:00. So don't tell me it's not possible when it clearly is. Also Disney is a planning trip, it also has been. If you want spontaneity go to the beach.
May 18, 20179 yr Author 1) It's hilarious that you feel sorry for me because I have a better time at Disney than you do 2) Sounds like you don't adapt well to change
