April 19, 20179 yr It's. even a long time since I've been to Campanella's, but the food is really, really good from what I remember. Much better than Carraba's or any other chain. However, the owner was exceptionally rude to me several times to me while I was trying to do business with him, and I just can't drop that grudge. I'm partial to Pompillio's because my wife's cousin is one of the owners. I don't know what it used to be like because I'm not from around here, but I do think the food is solid. Last time I was at Campanella's my waitress had a prison monitoring device on her ankle.
April 19, 20179 yr For whatever reason I continue my bizarre streak of never eating at Carrabba’s (or Bonefish Grill). Been to the others mentioned though – Olive Garden, Pompillio’s, Campanellos, Via Vite. Yum to them all!
April 19, 20179 yr I think the food at Pompilios is very average. Its claim to fame is the toothpick scene from Rain Man was filmed there. Popelio's IMO has gone downhill over the last several years. Used to be like you said, but last few times there, it was nothing special. I was told it had to do with the son taking over or something like that. Pompilio's has gone way downhill so don't go there. Personally, I like Carrabba's and the Crestview location is very nice. This ^ This ^ & This ^ Don't believe the hype about Pompillio's. They used to be good, but they now suck. It's now very greasy pedestrian Italian. Many have been duped by their very decent past and the whole "Rain Man" allure. There has been a very definite change for the worse for more than 10 years now. Many people still say that it's good because they want so bad to believe that it is, but make no mistake, it really really isn't.

Agreed....Campanello's is very good, yet the rudeness is a big turn off. My particular issue has been with the older woman cashier who works there who appears to by bi-polar or something. You get the impression that you're bothering her just by having her take your order. Ask for a fork because there's none on your table and her eyeballs bulge out of her head while she breathes hard at you like you're being unreasonable. She can really make the experience uncomfortable.
April 20, 20179 yr Another authentic place close to the stadium is Buona Vita It's known for their pizzas, but the other stuff is mighty tasty as well. The one in Dayton closed which was close to the stadium. I think they still have a location in Crestview Hills. Pasquale's is down there by the stadium. Or whatever it's called now.

April 20, 20179 yr I'm a huge fan of the Chicken Trio at Carrabba's. Carabbas's chicken is excellent and their pizza his highly underrated.
April 20, 20179 yr If you like it, go for it, but if you're looking for Italian, go to Pompelio's in Newport. It's a lot closer to the stadium and the food is much better and more authentic. Ate there Monday for lunch. Huge portions and a great value.

April 20, 20179 yr Why is that? I love Carrabba's? Going on a road trip and eating at a chain restaurant? You can get that at home. You have tons of folks on here that can give you advice n something unique and better.
