I think it's because of Hazard/Pikeville dislike of each other, being in the same district. The WYMT poll is never accurate though, so no use to worry about it...

I think the Panthers belong in the 5-7 range of best teams in the mountains...

:thumb: As much as I love seeing my Dragons in there, I agree Pikeville should be in there as well. Playing Belphry to within 4 points is a statement to me. I bet if we have a slip next week among the bottom 3-4, the Panthers will make an appearance.

Not only playing them to within 4, but Pikeville controlled the ball LONGER, and had more offensive yardage than the Pirates, and actually led on the scoreboard during the 4th quarter. I felt like Pikeville did WELL against the Angry Red, and will continue to improve. If Mayo had been on the field, (especially on defense) Pikeville wins this one!:thumb:

I would put them above a few of these teams. Pikeville did beat Prestonsburg handily. Sheldon Clark couldn't beat them. So SC is not in my top 10 for starters. Pikeville played the #3 team at least even tonight, leading in the 4th quarter before losing. I consider them to be as good as #3. Since you asked, I would also put them above North Laurel and Harlan for sure, probably Clay Co. and possibly Breathitt and Middlesboro...but it's all someone's opinion and means absolutely nothing both now and especially when the playoffs start...

Only 1 of Pikevills win came against a team with a .500 record and that was South Floyd who btw has beat (2-3) Magoffin County ,(1-5) Jackson County and (1-5) Betsy Layne.

 

Pikeville might be good enough to be in the top 10 but no way should they be a top 5 team.

This is an idea... have a top team list in each class along with the mountain top 10. Just a thought.

It's GREAT for an area like this to be blessed with a LOCAL major network affiliate that really cares about it's local area enough to pre-empt "the great" David Letterman every night to get a longer newscast on the air.

Middlesboro has beaten 4 bad teams and got crushed by the only decent team they have faced. No way they should be a top 5 team. Who have they beaten to be a No.5? Nobody.

 

Pikeville scheduled Henry Clay, East Jessamine, Prestonsburg and Belfry.

Middlesboro scheduled Pineville, Cawood, Lynn Camp and Lee Co. VA in an effort to pad their win total.

Why reward Middlesboro and punish Pikeville? Again, Middlesboro MIGHT be a 9 or 10, IF they ever beat a decent team.

No disrespect but,I would say the time spent watching it is just as valuable as time spent on BGP reacting to it and making a post concerning it coach.
