i had hoped the tigers could be a little more competitive in nky 1a this year with another year of Eickstein at the helm, but i guess in high school nothing can make up for a lack of the kind of talent they had enjoyed for a couple of years. Hopefully the tigers can get a few more wins and experience and really make a good run next year. does anyone know what kind of talent the tigers might have coming back on the lower grades?

Well last years team was the only good team they really had in the last 5 years or so, but that senior class last year had a great year! I really dont know much about the Tigers but I know they lost a bunch of seniors last year, so Im assuming they are playing alot more younger people this year, so I would think they have a good amoun coming back next year, but idk for sure...

That was a halftime score. Belleview didn't want to play Saturday. They were beaten every which way and wanted no more.

Welcome to BGP, but apparently they didn't want to play the second half or other wise they would have because it takes both teams to agree on what to do with a game. So that means Bellevue must agreed to giving the game up and not playing the next day...

No your right the players were in their locker room. The decision not to play the next day was made on the field. As far as making a come back that would have been something to see. A team 30 points down with 57 total yards offense it would have been unbelieveable. I think Coach Eckstein is a great Coach. Part of being a great Coach is knowing what's best for your team. IMO Coach Eckstein did the right thing. Good luck to your Tigers the rest of the year.

Okay first of all it takes a joint decision by both school AD's to say whay happens in a delayed game. Both schools agreed no sense in trying to continue playing tomorrow with such a score and field availability at Holmes iffy at best. bellevue's field no chance in this weather. Further the referee crew had a college game at Cumberland which also played a part in the decision. No referee crew no others available. Get your facts straight and at least learn how to spell Bellevue.

I would NEVER agree to call a DISTRICT game that I was losing in at the half!

I would have to think my guys would have the heart to come out and win it the next day or whenever we finished it!

I think i would pack it in and goe back to the drawing board and figure out a defensive scheme that would stop your next opponent. lick our wounds and get ready for next week. there is still alot of season left and i would want to try and learn from this one and hopefully get out of this one with no more injuries.

I agree with Bellevue on the choice to pack it up. Your down big at half HC is to tough to come back on down that much pack up an get ready for the next game. Im sure the kids understand why they did it after the coaches explained it to them.

Any Bellevue fans know who their freshmen played Thursday and how they finished?

In small schools like Ludlow, Dayton and Bellevue you will see a 4 to 5 yr cycle where they compete for maybe 1 or 2 yrs in a row against the Beechwoods and NCC's but then there is a stretch where they wont. It is the downfall of not having the numbers year in and year out. Bellevue had great teams in late 70's/early 80's....State Final runnerup in 1990... Pretty good teams from 98-2000 behind Nate Berkley and co. ....last year 2005/06with Lincoln Adams and Schmitz..... not sure about Ludlows years, I know in the late 80's they made a nice playoff run ....I know Dayton had a nice stretch in the mid 1990's with Skirvin where they SHOULD have beaten Beechwood and advanced.

 

Its just a numbers game and like I said.... it isnt going to be there every year.

 

As far as the future... I hear Bellevue has a very good Midgets team...so that is about a 6 yr away plan if you are thinking about how they may compete.

Glad to hear that Bellevues Midgets are doing well. Ludlows Midget team is currently 5-0 and seem to be a very talented bunch.
