The article pointed out that there is a stat that has the number attached. Not sure why you keep hanging onto that (well, actually, I do). The President tried to mislead the country with a number. How can he NOT be the culprit?

We hear about "cuts in govt spending" but it's not really a "cut" like you and I might call it. But the public doesn't know that so the pols keep saying it and IMPLYING it. You're desperate here when most people who take a step back can see how the "use of the number" is misleading. You keep saying "opinion." March 2, 20179 yr The whole debate over what was said vs. what was implied reminds me of several conversations with my wife. Don't try to infer that I implied something in what I said. I said exactly what I meant. He stated a fact. I'm sure he knew what would happen when he stated that fact and I don't mind it one bit. It's not his fault but ours if we don't see exactly what he did. In the end, majority of liberals will paint him as just lying again, when in reality, he told the complete truth.

When people attempt to "infer" or determine what the speaker was attempting to "imply", that's where it falls off the table. Irrespective of whether this was intended to be an "unemployed" versus "not employed" number, the problem still exists. This is not a liberal nor a conservative argument...in particular if you are a part of those that are working. With that many people not working, and a large percentage of that number neither contributing to their own well being nor attempting to, the burden shifts to those that ARE WORKING. One may go as far as to "imply" or "infer" that the POTUS was just pointing out that in our current system, too many people are NOT working and those that ARE working are carrying that load. Wouldn't that be an accurate inference to be made from the actual statistic as well ? #twosidesamecoin
March 2, 20179 yr I retired from private industry last year and took a job with the State of Kentucky in a cabinet that deals with this issue - to remain nameless. If people think the employment situation is healthy and/or don't want to admit there are major concerns, then they are part of the problem. We have thousands of unfilled jobs in our state alone and thousands of people that need jobs. When we honestly deal with those factors that prevent people from filling jobs, we will be moving the right direction: lack of proper skillset location can't afford to work don't want to work We have to keep in mind competitiveness as well....how do we pay $20 an hour for a task - especially when there are a lot of them - that the Chinese will do for $80 a week?

I am hanging my hat on the fact that the number that is giving you so much pain is accurate. The fact that there are some very poorly educated people in this country who may be clueless and believe that Trump wants them to believe that there are 94 million people actively looking for jobs is really not Trump's problem. Maybe Trump's Secretary of Education could address the issue that you have with Trump's choice of statistics. Did you ever express similar outrage as Obama repeatedly touted the official unemployment rate , which grossly understates the unemployment problem in this country? I'm guessing not.
