September 20, 200619 yr They are able to throw they just don't they have a TE and a few good WR. Tenn doesnt. Tough night. The Titans were 9th in passing last year. TE's were the focus of the passing game. Other than McNair, who did they lose??
September 20, 200619 yr Tough night. The Titans were 9th in passing last year. TE's were the focus of the passing game. Other than McNair, who did they lose?? Hummmmmmm I DK. I need more time to think, ill check back with you tomorrow.
September 20, 200619 yr Young will be a poor man's Michael Vick, and Vick isn't all that good. Write that down.:thumb:
September 20, 200619 yr The Titans should go ahead and play Vince Young. He is going to have to take his bumps and learn eventually. Why not do it now and prepare for you future? I would rather lose with a guy who I picked #3 in the draft(and is making a ton of $$) then a well traveled verteran such as Kerry Collins. I have to say I don't think Young will be as good as Matt Leinhart or Jay Cutler are going to be.
September 20, 200619 yr Author I think most agree that Vick's running, while great, is a short-term strength and that his passing will have to improve in order to be a top qb. VY's passing is not anywhere near as good as Vick's so IMO he's got a long way to go to get to average. Vick should be ahead of Young at this point. He's been in the NFL for several years. But, if you compare them at the college level, Young was a better QB in every aspect. There is valid reason to believe that Young will develop into a much better passer than Vick with experience. And I think he will.
September 20, 200619 yr Author They are able to throw they just don't they have a TE and a few good WR. Tenn doesnt. I'd take what Tennessee has to throw to over Atlanta any day. Drew Bennett, David Givens and Ben Troupe Maybe I'm crazy, but that looks better than Alge Crumpler, Roddy White and whoever else Atlanta runs out there to block for Vick and company. I've seen nothing to make me believe that Atlanta can beat a good team if they have to rely on Vick's passing.
September 21, 200619 yr Young will be a poor man's Michael Vick, and Vick isn't all that good. Write that down.:thumb: Hold on, I'm taking notes: If you're a Titans fan, you're in for quite a few years of disappointment with VY as your qb. He will be, at best, an average NFL qb. He will be a poor man's Vick.

There is valid reason to believe that Young will develop into a much better passer than Vick with experience. And I think he will. We could not disagree more, 5. In no way was VY a better passer (mechanics, arm strength, etc) than Vick (who is just an average NFL passer now). I have not heard one "expert" predict that VY will be a better passer than Vick. There is nothing you see in VY's mechanics or arm strength to even remotely suggest such a thing.

Too bad there is more to playing QB than mechanics and arm strength, huh? For starters, Mike Vick would be a much better passer and Tim Couch would probably be starting for some NFL team. It wouldn't shock me either way with Vince Young, boom or bust. I don't care what the "experts" say about him. Sean Salisbury is an expert. Wonder how they would grade Bernie Kosar and his side-arm delivery? I saw two things from Vince Young in college that are critical to being a successful QB and can't be quantified by grading arm strength and mechanics. He is a leader and he is clutch. We'll agree to disagree on this one. Time is a revelator, they say. Now, on to another observation. Does anybody else think the Titans are trying to re-create McNair and George by drafting Vince Young and LenDale White? Just a thought.
September 21, 200619 yr "Vince Young and the Titans" sounds like it has a better chance of being a good band name than a good football team...
September 21, 200619 yr Hold on, I'm taking notes: Sorry man, I didn't see your post before. But I guess it is safe to say we feel the same about Young.
September 21, 200619 yr Did anyone see Fisher, rip into former QB Volek....here is link Volek not invited to Fisher's house for Dinner
September 21, 200619 yr Wonder how they would grade Bernie Kosar and his side-arm delivery? Bernie=exception Every other poor throwing qb=rule I saw two things from Vince Young in college that are critical to being a successful QB and can't be quantified by grading arm strength and mechanics. He is a leader and he is clutch. How many of VY's clutch plays didn't involve his feet? Those won't happen in the NFL.
