The only people I've read whining on the board are some of the thin-skinned people from Mercer Co. You just need to accept the fact that Mercer Co. had a huge advantage when the season started. Nothing illegal or immoral. They are just playing the hand that was dealt them. And it was a good hand. Stop making like there is no advantage.

This sounds like my attitude about Trinity and St. Xavier.

I'm not saying the teams aren't good. I'm just saying that they have an unfair advantage over the other 2A teams. All I'm asking is do you really think is a great accomplishment to run roughshod over 2A teams when your aren't a 2A team. Poor administrative decisions does not make it right. No legit 2A team should be able to challenge either one of those teams, don't act like there is something special happening there. These are 2 teams getting to play down in class dominating smaller teams--they're nothing special, that's what we're saying. You should win, you have everything in your favor--tell me I'm wrong.

Your point is understood. But being a realist you understand that there is NOTHING Mercer or Western can do about it. CONSTANTLY bringing it up for discussion is pointless unless you are trying to diminish the accomplishments of both. That is what this post is about. That's as REAL as it gets.

No one has accused Mercer County's players of being at fault about anything. No one is questioning their playing ability or accomplishments on the football field. Period. End of story.

If you can read, you can look on my earlier post and read that I said that it is an administrative problem. However, I wouldn not shy away from addressing the teams and telling them that they were handed a HUGE advantage that NONE of the other teams in the state of KY were given and that they shouldn't squander it and that they SHOULD win the state playing against smaller schools.

How about we let UK (not a traditional power) and EKU (not a power for several years) play Div 1AA football and see what happens. Mercer could be UK and H'burg EKU. I'm sure that they'd have a hard time and the rest of 1AA wouldn't be upset at all about it. Because it wouldn't be an advantage would it?????

Can't we discuss the issue without being accused of having an ulterior motive? This is a high school football message and discussion board, after all ... it's what we do here, and what some of us have been doing here for years.

I'm not saying that you should care that you have an advantage, I wish we did....... Not nececarily saying you, but some Mercer fans need to act like they have experienced this kind of success and expectation before, even if they haven't.

I think just to point out that Mercer SHOULD be doing this with the advantage that they have. Are you trying to say that this is some kind of miracle that has no explanation. You know what everyone that knows any thing about football can see what is going on here. I'm glad Mercer and H'burg have been able to get along and I'm sure they have a fine team. However, they should no more be able to play class 2A than Highlands should get to play class 1A. You know what? I think Highlands would actually decline to play for a title against smaller teams, but I guess that's just them.....

That's the motive of this thread. Period. You can put a pretty ribbon on this hog, but it still stinks.

Agreed....

Just don't pass judgement on a program because of some obnoxious fans who don't know how to win with class. They are a minority.
