This is not a 90 or 120 temporary pause to ensure proper vetting, this is a pemanent ban right?

The United States should aspire to emulate Syria's policy on human rights. We will only then truly fulfill our aspirations to be the "Shining City upon a Hill."

You seriously think what the US is doing, putting a pause on immigration/travel until vetting can be assured, is the same as Syria and other countries listed?

Why should a country not be able to set their immigration laws? I think most Americans agree that our country needs to improve the immigration process. The disagreement seems to be that President Trump is the wrong type of personality to lead the reform.

No. Though "it's not as bad as what they're doing" isn't a compelling argument in its favor either.

My snark was directed toward the implication that we shouldn't be concerned because other countries do worse, as though that's a reasonable standard for our own politics.

I'm not saying it's not as bad, I'd say that it isn't comparable in any way other than it impact similar region.

Maybe relevant:

Because I went to Israel and got my passport stamped, I would be unable to enter Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria or Yemen. Travel bans are not a new thing.

I dont think Jews are beating the doors down trying to get into these countries either. If they do they are dead men.

Kind of like Palestinian Muslims that try to enter Israel?

I don't know how excited the United States should be about "making it onto the list" with the likes of Syria, Yemen, Malaysia and Sudan. Those countries aren't exactly bastions of civil liberty.

No they are trying to get in and blow up the Jews.

There are many Palestinians that live in Israel and are peaceful.

Big difference in Israel letting them in as opposed to a Jew going to Iran.
