July 7, 20179 yr No huff just didn't quite understand ragging on one team for low attendance and then ragging on another team for great attendance. I think the attendance has been outstanding at home and as one who has been to road games where FCC has played, all the other team's fans that I have spoken to think it is over the top what FCC has done. BTW was in Seattle the night (well it was in the afternoon in Seattle) FCC played the Fire and I had my FCC shirt on. We went to a sport bar and I asked the barkeep to change one of the TV's to the FCC vs. Fire game and he did and by the end of the game, all the TV's were tuned into the game. The Sounders fans were indeed impressed with FCC, as were the Timber fans, later in the week when we were in Oregon with the FCC Play, Crowd and Spirit!

Try to look at it more a long the line of ragging on one team for poor attendance, and ragging on another for diverting attention away from the fact that they're in tenth place by bragging about their attendance numbers.

Remember, all you have to do is be one of the top eight in each division to make the playoff. Oh and in the Futbol World what is bigger, the 2nd tier USL or being in the Great Eight in the Lamar Hunt Open Cup, a tourney that was started in 1913 which could lead the Champion to play in the CONCACAF Champions League? Open Cup Special in Cincinnati - U.S. Soccer. I will promise you this, in the world of Futbol, FCC is far better known than the majority of the other USL teams and while I can't prove it to you, the Sounders and Timbers Fans are very aware of who FCC is.

It is annoying to seem them lose to a bad USL team after beating the Fire and Crew, but I do think, as others have mentioned, that all the extra games has worn them down a little more than their competition.

It shouldn't, but that's the poison MLS puts into American soccer and why I don't watch that league. Owners want to get into MLS (not because they want a team but because MLS ownership gets you shares in Soccer United Marketing, which is where the real money is) and fans are more than happy to tag along because of the prestige of Division 1 sanction, despite the oftentimes miserable fan stories you hear from teams that make the switch from lower division to MLS. I wish Cincinnati and Sacramento and others trying to make the switch would stay in USL, which I believe to operated in a way vastly superior to MLS, and tell Commissioner Garber and the heads of the US Soccer Federation to blow it out their backsides but... money talks.

So a business's goal shouldn't be to try to maximize their profits?

I also want what's best for my team and not necessarily what's best for the ownership. They aren't the same thing. As a citizen, I want NO public funding for stadium projects. That's certainly a place where owners will disagree. Just because they want to maximize profits doesn't mean I should go along with it because they happen to hold the purse of the team I like.

If they expect public funding to build their stadium, I wished they just stay in the USL and play at Nippert. As the beer vendor, I'm pretty darn happy with how things are working out for me now in regards to FCC. I don't see anything wrong with FCC continually boasting and using their attendance in PR related things. They should be very proud of what they've accomplished in that regard.

I'll crack jokes because it's fun, but 30k+ for a soccer game is just awesome, no matter what league you're in. And I agree about the stadium. FCC's situation at Nippert is awesome and I'd give my left arm for Louisville to be "stuck" in that situation.

That's definitely true. They have been a marketing machine. Since they've started, I have felt like they have done a very good job hyping themselves up with their social media too.
July 15, 20179 yr Author About five hours from kickoff in Louisville. I'm ready to roll. Listened to the Cincy Soccer Talk podcast this morning with a preview of today's game. Sounds like the staff was putting a lot on this game as several of the regular starters didn't even make the trip to Miami on Wednesday. Louisville is trying to keep pace with Charleston on top of the East and Cincinnati is trying to work their way back into the hunt. Should be a really exciting game tonight.

Well won by FCC. Thought Louisville deserved better but Cincinnati capitalized on all their chances. Louisville did not. That first FCC goal was particularly frustrating as a serious mistake by Louisville's keeper. Congratulations on all your attendance success. It will get you into MLS. Be careful what you wish for.
