August 1, 20179 yr Author USL officiating is just barely a step up from youth soccer. They don't use their discretion, like good professional referees should, and let things be content with a warning. Instead they go straight to the cards. I definitely think that was the case with Djiby Fall in that game. Second yellow was totally deserved but that probably should have been his first and the initial yellow card should have been a foul and a talking-to. Can't say I'm upset with the result of that match, but poor officiating is a real problem across the league.

Big talk that the independents want to start the process of forcing the MLS reserve sides out of the league and down to the new USL D-3. It might be a bit to early for that with at least four USL independent teams probably jumping into MLS over the next 4-5 years, but there's no doubt that it's almost universally awful to play one of these Terrible Twos with a million players but no fans.
