January 27, 20179 yr Okay...I'll say it. I let my wife do it. However and whenever she wants. No way I could let mine do this haha. I love her but I need to do the grocery shopping for me/us and then she goes and gets other things for herself that I dont' usually touch like cucumbers haha!
January 27, 20179 yr I make lists and usually leave them sitting on the kitchen counter. I don't mind wanderers. My personal peeves are that people should walk down the right side of the aisles, like they do on the sidewalk. Hate people who hog the middle or park themselves on the left. Also, those kids with the mini carts are NOT cute. PREACH!

You could pre select all of the groceries every week or so and then just pop in as needed for produce. Another advantage to this, if you select something and they are out they give you the next biggest size for the same price. If you select a store brand and they are out, they will substitute name brand for the same price. This is working so well that Walmart is starting it also in limited areas.

The bride used to do Meijers for produce, but does not go there hardly at all anymore. We did pick up some greens stuff at Findlay market this past weekend.

I know most are picky about their produce, but I've not heard any complaints about what the store has selected for anyone. I know quite a few that are using it and none have complained about anything yet. This service is great for the elderly or the working mom/dad that can just run by after work pick up their groceries and head on home.

But I'm going to do a 2 week demo of bite meals which is a company that ships you individual meals overnight so I'm going to order for a week on Saturday so I can have them for Monday-Friday for lunch. Then I'm going to try plated which sends you the ingredients for a full meal but then you make it. I don't mind grocery shopping, but I'm scared to make new dishes because I'll have to buy some ingredient that I can only use for that dish and it just sits on the shelves after that with plated I think they only send you exactly what you need to make the meal. Should be interesting. If I like it then my grocery shopping will now only consist of a make your own 6 pack of beer at Kroger and then milk and stuff. That would be nice.

None of them are cooks per se. So for them they actually save a bit of money versus what they normally spent eating out. I've had one of the meals that our friends made. It was quite good. For us...it doesn't make sense at all. But I can see how it does for some.

So for 2 people, it's $24 a night. Little too pricey for this cheapskate. :lol2:
January 27, 20179 yr I actually like grocery shopping with the wife. We wing it mostly. We have a list, but sometimes I'll create some concoction that I kinda decide while I'm there. Probably not the most efficient, but we are so close to the grocery, we go often.
January 27, 20179 yr We tend to spend way more than $4 on stuff we don't need. Yeah, probably saves a ton of money for that reason alone...especially if you are shopping while hungry
