February 1, 20179 yr A few months ago, I started a thread on another website titled "The Case Against Donald Trump." It is the most viewed political thread in the history of that site. I never understood how people become so devoted to a politician that they are blinded to his or her obvious faults. That is how a free society becomes a tyranny. Are you talking about Obama? That is how many of us felt about him and his ardent followers. Our panic was that he and the liberals would push us into socialism that would be impossible to reverse because it becomes so indoctrinated by big-government policy. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and I get it, but to project that because Trump won that people voted for him and drank the coolaid as we asserted that Obama followers did, is an extreme failure to look in the mirror and understand how liberal policies of the last eight years have failed this country. I would suggest that Trump won only because someone had to, and the country rejected the socialist, big-government leanings of the last eight years. It is absolutely amazing the things I have read and heard in the past month about impending tyranny and facism, and it gets to the point of being absurd. The man took office, and he is doing what he promised to do. And...he has only been in office, what, two weeks?

I say that as somebody who was a late decider who voted for Trump after almost casting a protest vote for a third party candidate. So far, I have been very satisfied with Trump's performance. Performance is what counts, once the election is over. As for Obama's supporters, it seems that many of them dismiss the adage that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. They say by quietly while Obama did his best to Balkinize this country while he claimed to be a uniter, and they seem eager to get even with those of us who justly criticised Obama by unfairly criticizing Trump for playing the very bad hand Obama dealt is. When I believe Trump has screwed up, I will not hesitate to criticise him for it, just as I criticised him during campaign. We do our elected leaders no favours when we cheer for the team, even when they are scoring for the opposing team. That is what separates us from the banana republic that Obama tried to establish.

With you 100%. There are parts of the liberal agenda (so to speak) that I value strongly, particularly those that apply to environmental and renewable energy initiatives. I believe ALL of us want a more successful educational system although we don't always agree how to go about it. Trump pledged less and simpler government....not more federal power...just more effective. The use of executive orders, of course, always appears awkward, but I believe they are tolerated, at least in the short term, because they are applied towards exactly what he promised to do in his campaign. I believe Trump will need to take his explanations of the content of the orders however pro-actively and directly to the people bypassing the media as he did much of his campaign. The EO regarding travel is evidence of that.

There is no plan that I have heard and ISIS is still around and have not surrendered. I am reserving my comments until they become lies. No excuses are accepted. Either you do it of you don't. His words, not some fabrication from the media. I find it refreshing to tell it like it is.

That is not what he said. This is what he said, “We are going to convene my top generals and give them a simple instruction. They will have 30 days to submit to the Oval Office a plan for soundly and quickly defeating ISIS. We have no choice.” Good try though.

Trump never said that he would defeat ISIS within 30 days of taking office, but this is the second misleading headline that you have posted that claims he did. What Trump said was that he would instruct his generals to present him with a plan within 30 days to defeat ISIS. According to the article to which you linked, Trump has signed an executive order requesting the plan from his generals.
