February 21, 20179 yr Author I'd be shocked if the doll and the helmet weren't clues to her parents. Here's a screen capture from The Force Awakens. So apparently that text that looks kind of like "73E" on the side of the helmet is actually the name "Ræh" written in Aurabesh galactic text. It refers to a rebel pilot named Captain Dosmit Ræh. I forget which version of the Star Wars Expanded Universe she appeared in, but she was an X-Wing pilot who was shot down during the Battle of Jakku. Some of her gear and was salvaged by Rey...and there are some nerds out there who are conjecturing that Rey didn't actually know her real name as a youngster, and after finding the helmet, she adopted the name "Rey"...misspelled. (Here's an Aurabesh translator for uber-nerds.)
February 21, 20179 yr Yes, the issue I think will be for the 9th movie. They have to rewrite it someway now. But if they can CGI Peter Cushing as Tarkin, you'd have to think at least for a couple of scenes they could do the same with her. Since they've already used that method in the last movie I believe they'll do it with her as well in the 9th movie.
February 21, 20179 yr Author Since they've already used that method in the last movie I believe they'll do it with her as well in the 9th movie. Lucasfilm has already stated that they will not be recreating Carrie Fisher via CGI for Episode IX. A Statement Regarding New Rumors | StarWars.com

February 21, 20179 yr Author Why is that? I'm the exact opposite. Honestly I don't really have any particular reason one way or the other. I just haven't been all that enthused to find out about Rey's parents...couldn't say why, really.
February 21, 20179 yr Lucasfilm has already stated that they will not be recreating Carrie Fisher via CGI for Episode IX. A Statement Regarding New Rumors | StarWars.com Okay. Wasn't aware of that. I suppose a re-write will be in order.
April 15, 20179 yr Lots of teasing and misdirection I think with that trailer. Same. It looks intentionally deceiving.
April 15, 20179 yr One of the few, maybe only, movie franchises that I don't think I will ever get tired of. I got excited seeing the trailer.
April 15, 20179 yr One of the few, maybe only, movie franchises that I don't think I will ever get tired of. I got excited seeing the trailer. Agreed, although I think at the end of his run George Lucas had become somewhat bored with them and the end product showed.
April 15, 20179 yr Agreed, although I think at the end of his run George Lucas had become somewhat bored with them and the end product showed. I think George was more interested in what he could put on screen from a CGI standpoint than he was in the actual story.
April 16, 20179 yr I think George was more interested in what he could put on screen from a CGI standpoint than he was in the actual story. And merchandising. Never forget the merchandising. I (or really, my parents) paid a big chunk into George's retirement fund. I am definitely not alone in that regard.

I have an attic full of 90's stuff that was my sons...probably could have paid for a couple of years college for what we paid for figures, ships and light sabers.
April 16, 20179 yr I have an attic full of 90's stuff that was my sons...probably could have paid for a couple of years college for what we paid for figures, ships and light sabers. I've got about a half-dozen intact ones (no weapons/props) in my desk drawer. Most of my old ones got chewed up by the family dog. Including the Boba Fett that shot rockets, and the Jawa with the rare viny cape. Oh, and the Blue Snaggletooth — still have it, but the foot's been partially chewed off, and his head spins real bad.
