Many Arrested Inauguration Day Protesters Will Face Felony Rioting Charges

Featured Replies

Here is some good news. Many of the violent Inauguration Day protesters will be charged with felonies. That is exactly what somebody hurling bricks at police officers (or civilians) deserves.

217 will be charged with rioting. Felony rioting is punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

There is a new sheriff in town and anarchists should check their crowbars and other weapons at the DC limits.

Anybody throwing bricks at police absolutely should be charged with felonies. Idiots.

^ Same for those burning the limo and breaking windows out of businesses.

In some ways Rioting has become "Terrorism Light" in the US.

Rioting needs heftier charges associated with it and that will stop people from doing it.

People get brave in big groups. They see it on tv, especially in places like Palenstine and think there are no repercussions. Throwing a brick at an individual is just as bad as shooting at someone in my opinion. They need to be shown that is unacceptable and won't be tolerated. Also those setting the garbage on fire

When I worked in the coal mines of eastern Kentucky, I had several encounters with roving UMWA pickets in ski masks who were armed with clubs and guns. Cowards one and all. I have the same opinion of anarchists. I have no doubt that those who were arrested will make full use of their constitutional rights to avoid a night in jail.

It takes much more courage to show one's face and exercise one's First Amendment rights than to resort to mob violence while hiding behind a hood. I have zero respect for people who commit violent acts behind a mask.

No mercy for these cowards. Let this be the last time rioters disrupt a peaceful event in our nation's capital with the expectation that justice will not be done.

They deserve it, there's no excuse for that behavior.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a felony conviction prevent them from voting in the future in most states?

Do real anarchists vote?

Eliminate the threats.

Eliminate the threats.

You're talking about shooting and killing people, which is ridiculous.

I simply mean harsh sentencing.

I will say that's over the top but in a normal situation, if you come at a cop with a brick, they will shoot you.
