Statistically at this point in their careers, it is pretty close. Brown has more receptions, but yards are about the same giving Chad a higher yards per catch average. TD's about the same. Receptions longer than 40 yards about the same. I give the edge to Brown as a WR but it isn't a no brainer. Where Brown really separates himself from Chad as a player is with the added punt return factor.

I will be very surprised if Brown doesn't pass Chad in career numbers. Chad was injured in year 8 then had one more 1,000 yard season before dropping off stat wise. Brown should pass Chad's career numbers but injuries and age can catch up to you like they did to Chad so you never know.

 

I will add one more thing, Chad really messed up not staying focused to the end of his career. His career stats as is are better than other receivers in the Hall of Fame. If he had just stayed focused a couple more years and added one or two more 1,000 yard seasons, he would be in the Hall of Fame. He totally messed up not making it happen in New England. One or two good years there and he is in the HOF.

All I was saying was AB is slowly going the route Chad went, where he slowly started to care more about entertaining than football. I won't say Johnson was better than AB. AB numbers will put him in Hall of fame if he keeps this up. However some of you all sounded like you all were saying Chad was never good and that's not true.

 

He was one of the best in football and showed by being the first in history to lead a conference in yards 4 straight seasons. Not to mention he did that with a guy many of you all said is a bum of a qb in Palmer. AB has a future Hall of famer throwing to him and a possible Hall of fame running back people worry about.

 

AB is better I won't try that argue. But please don't act like Chad was bad or wasn't one of the best when he played. If you think otherwise then you are prisoners of the moment and only remember the end of his career.

That was my whole point Chad was doing great his first 7 years and then his focus turned from football and his decline was quick. All I was pointing out is AB is slowly going down the Chad route of really caring a lot about social media and entertaining. Chad eventually got so wrapped up in that it killed his football side of things. AB is slowly going down that route. If he keeps going that route we may see his stats decline quickly too. That is all I was pointing out and then it became a debate somehow on who is better lol.

He has great hands and runs great routes, to be sure.

 

Obviously, to futurecoach's point, I have seen Antonio Brown play more recently. But Brown is on another level in my opinion. He has the ability to take over the game as a receiver that I've not seen from many others. And I'm far from a fan of either team.

I would say only to not take it as a slight against Chad. This is subjective and there's no measuring stick (outside of the stats, which favor Brown) to say which is the more talented receiver. You guys had a good one with Ocho. He put up great numbers for a time and left you with fun memories. At the end of the day, you have those memories and his statistics to make his case. Whether some favor another over him or not, he still enjoyed great individual success.

 

I also hope that Brown does not allow anything to interfere with what so far has been unprecedented success over his career. But I don't think the Steelers organization would ever let it get that far.

Take their best seasons and compare them. AB at his best is better than Ocho.

Go look at the numbers. Take their best 5 years and AB beats Ocho in every category. Catches, TDS, yards.
