February 11, 20179 yr My 24 yr old bought a Haim LP today which was recorded at 45 RPM. We were talking about how in the "old days" the LP was 33 1/3. He says "the guy threw in that thing...." and pointed to an old-fashioned 45 single. He had no clue what it was.

March 27, 20179 yr Vetiver - To Find Me Gone Though I thoroughly dig everything that I've ever heard from San Francisco indie folk band Vetiver, I find myself always going back their 2006 release "To Find Me Gone", and other than it just being a wonderful laid back sleepy acoustic folky album through and through, it's probably because it's the first release by them that I had ever heard. Vetiver often gets lumped into the Freak Folk genre along with such artists as Devendra Banhardt and Joanna Newsom, but with Vetiver there's no quirkiness to get used to as their brand of down-to-earth organic hippie mellow folk harkens the listener back to perhaps the late 60's or early 70's while still sounding timeless. Their acoustic sound is just so calm and pleasant with flavorful melodies. Seriously they are to be enjoyed when you're absolutely in no hurry, and really just want to disappear for a little while. "To Find Me Gone" is best experienced from start to finish to get the whole effect of being sedated and placed into a ready-for-a-good-nap unrushed state. Andy Cabic the lead singer-songwriter for Vetiver masterfully writes tunes that sit comfortably on your shelf with other classic acoustic folk artists while also petitioning that this timeless era always was, and still is. If you happen to dig this sort of mellow acoustic hippie folk you really can't go wrong with any of Vetiver's 6 releases from 2004-2015.
