The old 8th region discussion. Been more teams in and out of this thing than any others. I agree Lexington area is getting bigger by the minute.

Move the Franklin County schools in and put them in district with Anderson.

Not a bad trip down 127. Spencer, Shelby and Collins together add the big E and Henry Co. The 3 Oldham schools in a district Would leave a spot for KCD if needed to move one out. Move Simon Kenton, Grant County and Williamstown to N. Ky area. Now take the I-71 schools and finish out the region. Owen, Trimble, Carroll, Walton-Verona. Hope I didn't leave anyone out.

Yep. Louisville/Jefferson County has 33 schools fielding boys basketball teams this season (that is not counting Walden, which is not fielding a varsity team this year, and the Bullitt County schools, which are in the 6th Region but not in Jefferson County). I am not sure how many high schools there are in Kenton County, but I don't think it is 33.

I'm a visual learner. Is there a map of the current alignment available anywhere?

Walton is in Boone County. Why would you leave them in the 8th and move out 2 schools further south in Grant and Williamstown

There are currently 12 schools playing boys basketball from Kenton county. 1 in the 8th region, 9 in the 9th, and 2 in the 10th. I am not including St. Henry because even though their address is Erlanger, they are actually Boone county. There are 20 teams total in the 9th. 5 per district. If someone new comes in, then someone else probably has to go out.

Start moving team West and I honestly think all the teams in Boone County (4 currently in the Ninth) should move to the 8th Region and then move Simon Kenton and Scott back to the 9th which would leave the 9th Region with 18 teams. Jim, then move the most Western Jefferson County Schools farther West. Having 20 school in the Ninth (and I understand those complaining about Scott and SK not being in the Ninth) is not fair to the Ninth Region Teams when other Regions have 15 and 16 teams. As I said keep moving West.

I don't know that Indiana is ready for that. Any further west puts them across the river.

 

At some point, the Boone schools will all have to go to the 8th Region to relieve pressure in the 9th. That means some shifting on the southern end of the 8th.

And that someone new will be the next high school in Boone County, which I predict will be standing within 6 years.

I could envision a scenario where the entire 10th Region as folks know/knew it would be completely blown up and shifted westward, including the Brossart/Campbell district and a possible district including former 8th Region stalwarts Grant/Williamstown/Scott Co./New Scott Co. school.

 

Mountain regions need schools. Teams on the eastern edge of the 10th, 12th and the 13th and 14th better get used to some new rivals if the state is going to stick to its current system.

 

Same goes for out west, as schools in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th will need to do some radical changing of region addresses.
