January 5, 20179 yr Author Morning update: The system looks to take a little bit more southerly track. This mean more wide spread snow accumulations for Kentucky. Also now WKY seems to be getting in on the action. Those in EKY look to receive the most snow fall for today. The WPC has them with the best chance to receive 4". The following accumulation outlook is through 7 pm ET tonight. There looks to be a short cutoff to the snow along the southern edge of the system. This edge looks to be around the Cumberland Pkway. North of the Pkwy just about all of the state can expect 1-3". There appears to be a thin band of heavy snow where the accumulations may top 3" from the Cumberland pkwy to about Richmond to around Jackson. For the timing I'm still going with what I posted yesterday. Some may seem some snow early this morning but the heaviest snow looks to be during the afternoon. I'll try to post updates during the day when I can. 2-4" Jackson, Richmond 1-3" Lexington, Paducah, Owensboro, Elizabethtown, Louisville, Cincinnati/NKY, Maysville.

January 5, 20179 yr Author It's actually snowing right now over most of the state but because the air is so dry it's not reaching the ground. Once the moisture content of the air rises enough the snow will start reaching the ground. This is called virga.
January 5, 20179 yr Nice dusting coated everything when I left this morning about 8:00. Road was slick in a couple spots. Haven't looked outside again since I've been at work.

January 5, 20179 yr Author Update: Southeast Kentucky accumulation totals are going up. Those in the area around and east of I-75 south of the Mountain Pkwy could see 4-6" by Friday morning. Corbin area is now looking at 2-4".
