George Karl: "It's obvious some of our players are doping."

Former SuperSonics/Bucks/Nuggets/Kings coach, George Karl had some free time on his hands over the summer and decided to write a book... Thanks a lot Boogie.

In it, the book with a terribly long and unimaginative title, Karl claims the NBA has a steroid/HGH problem.

George Karl accuses NBA stars of steroid abuse in new book - NY Daily News

Knicks star Carmelo Anthony got off easy.

After trashing Anthony's character and play in his new book, "Furious George: My Forty Years Surviving NBA Divas, Clueless GMs, and Poor Shot Selection," the former coach went after the rest of the league, making serious accusations about steroid abuse.

"It's obvious some of our players are doping," reads an excerpt from the book obtained by NBC Sports. "How are some guys getting older-- yet thinner and fitter? How are they recovering from injuries so fast? Why the hell are they going to Germany in the off-season? I doubt it's for the sauerkraut."

Why wouldn't they be on the sauce?

Will you be reading his tell-all when it releases on Jan. 10?

George Karl is burning every bridge and proving why most his players despise him. Even if most of it is true you don't air it out in public.

I will say there is zero doubt in my mind after two seasons ago LBJ is on something. That two week vaction he took and came back like 20 pounds bigger went way under reported.

:thumb: No doubt they are doping. No one seems to care for whatever reason.

I'm sure they are doping but George Karl has ruined every connection he has to basketball and will never get another job.

This is a reason he's hated by pretty much everyone league wide.

I'm guessing he knows he is done coaching. The book should have a much simpler title..."Parting shots"...

He is just taking his shots at people that he had issues with during his coaching career...seems pretty classless to do this in a book to me though...

The guy has a fantastic basketball mind...but if you know about his past...he has had some mental breakdowns and is wound tighter than a $2 watch. Probably would have been a better fit as a college head coach where he had 100% control over players and a program, IMO.

Now George Karl is basically saying that some of the things he said in the book did not come out the way he said them...going with the "I was misquoted in my own book" excuse...

Totally weak...I cannot defend him now. He made negative comments about Lillard and the Portland coach (who used to be a Karl assistant) ripped him about it.

Agreed! The NBA is smart in that sense though. MLB witch hunt for all the players that they allowed to use steroids in the late 90s to get fans back, hurt MLB during their witch Hunt. The NFL has hurt itself some with all their fines and suspensions Goodell has done for player conduct, steroids, etc.

There is no way the NBA doesnt have a doping problem. They probably had a higher percentage than baseball players, because doping can help more in basketball imo. However the NBA is smart they know if they go after the players doping it will really hurt their game. Especially when it's star players LeBron James is probably one of them. They are going to protect their stars, like they always have. Just like I believe there was something to the whole trying to cover up Jordan's gambling issues during his career. The NBA is going to do what's best for business, and it has worked because it has got more fans over the last few years.
