McDonald's Coffee Lawsuit

Featured Replies

I did know this.

I also know that it's not smart to put a cup of coffee between your legs.

I agree that it isn't smart to do what she did. However, this isn't how it was presented in anything I heard (mostly) or read. I get that maybe she should have gotten nothing, but that is not the point of the article IMO.

I didn't know this at the time but I've read this info since then. If I was on the jury, I probably give her the same as that jury did.

And what IS smart to put there?:idunno:

Yep, have known this story for a long time, but like JD didn't know it at the time of the verdict.

A Big Mac or a quarter pounder, of course!

Yep, I guess you have to go to Sonic to get a foot long.

Here's the video that the article was based on:

If you're interested in learning more about the truth, I'd recommend the HBO Documentary "Hot Coffee" as well.

If you're brave there are some very gruesome photos of what her legs looked like afterward.

I can't even imagine.

I've seen them. Previous to that I had pretty much blindly held the opinion that "okay, so a woman burns herself with hot coffee that she purchased at McDonald's fault, and somehow that is McDonald's problem???" After seeing the photos it was clear to me that there was definitely some responsibility on the part of McDonald's. There is absolutely no reasonable need for coffee to be hot enough to cause burns like that.

Still her fault. Should be smart enough not to make such a move. Jury felt sorry. Just another effort to relieve people of their own actions.
