I never watched "The Apprentice." I had a Trump tie once I thought was nice. (I guess I still have it somewhere, but I've stepped my tie game up :lol2:)

 

My first real contemplation of Trump was his becoming the leading cheerleader of the birther conspiracy. Not only was it delusional in its idiocy, but it was a shamelessly cynical ploy to get attention and carve out a political following. It would seem this became his political MO.

 

I met him in NYC around 2011. My friend wanted to take a picture with him. I had no interest in a picture but I did shake his hand and talk to him for a minute. He was very nice and good humored with us. He's a world class schmoozer. But I have noticed he talks to world leaders very similarly to how he talked to us. :lol2:

 

On one level I think he's hilarious, almost unintentionally. I can understand the appeal of his personality, even if I think he's egomaniacal. I just happen to think he is woefully unprepared to be president and uninterested in governing. The cynical proposals he's made to summit this mountain of self-promotion will be destructive if unrestrained.

Same here. I was familiar and well read on everything Donald going back to the seventies. Definitely a BOA (boorish, arrogant, ostentatious). And now we know a sexual predator as well. Just an awful man. The country will survive him but he will leave a lasting stain, as did Nixon and, more importantly, slavery.

Not sure how HILLARY'S name made its way into this discussion of our thoughts on TRUMP PREVIOUS to him running for president, and I was hoping that for just once we could concentrate the discussion on HIM rather than why some think that he is better than HER, but nonetheless what I'm taking from those who have answered is that the left types that didn't care for him previously never have and still don't, and for his supporters here it's somewhat of a mixed bag of how you felt about him beforehand, but you're ALL OK with HIM NOW.

I'm wondering from everyone, both left and right, if he had run his campaign completely the same as he had done yet as an Independent or a Democrat would that have effected your approval or disapproval of him?

 

As someone who considers myself a moderate who is left leaning who has often times voted 3rd party, I can say with complete certainty that I still would not have cared for him even if he had had an 'I" or a 'D' next to his name. Party affiliation did not effect my feelings towards him one bit, and I can honestly say that there actually was one Republican candidate that I could've voted for.

I though he was a bombastic gas bag who I really didn't care for but when it became apparent that he was going to be the nominee I realized he was the only candidate that had a chance to keep the Clintons out of the White House so he got my vote.

 

I also find it AMAZING how after more the 30 years in the public eye none of the charges of racism or sexual predation ever surfaced until ne ran for President.

If you bothered to read my entire post, then you must know that Trump has my full support. He was not my first choice, nor my tenth choice, but he is my president. I hope that he succeeds because I do not want to see another socialist elected president in my lifetime. Trump has an opportunity to vanquish this generation of liberal Democrats to the ash heep of history and I hope that he makes the most of it.
