Boyle Co v/s Mercer Co predictions....

Featured Replies

Can some of you Boyle faithful tell me about Soph.Cameron Finchum, how is he doing, is he starting? I know his dad, and was just curious to how he is doing.

I heard his name over the intercom during the LaFayette game. I take it Kameron is starting, he's a pretty niced size kid to be a sophmore(?). It wouldn't surprise me if he is starting.

I heard earlier in the year that there were talks of a renewal in the rivalry. Myself, I would like to see an annual bowl game for this area that includes Boyle,Danville,Lincoln, and Mercer. Maybe one like the Bob Allen Classic. One positive thing out of all of this is that maybe this will make this area even stronger for high school football with the Patriot,Ads,Rebels, and the Titans. That's a tough quartet.

I like the Rebs in this one.

Boyle County - 49

Merger County -38

Oops! I never could spell - make that "Mercer"

No way Boyle nor anyone else scores 49 points on Mercer this season. However, if they want to win they had better.

Being in the same district, Lincoln will be playing Mercer, would love to see Lincoln also play Boyle and Danville again, but I am not sure if Danville will play us anytime soon after the forfiet situation 2 years ago.

Speed beats youth....Destiny beat rebuilding....Mercer 42 Boyle 13

Only 24 hours away from one of the biggest games of the season for both teams. I can't hardly wait, should be a great one. The 60 to nothing prediction I made earlier, was just for fun, (I like to clown around sometimes)

The team that wins this game will be the one who wants it most. Hope there's no injurys in the game and lots of good sportsmanship, not just from the players ,but from the fans too. This is only one game, doesn't count really, the real season begins when the district kicks in.Looking forward to a fun and great time win or lose,it will be a blast. This will be my last post on this thread, so I see you-all Friday night at the game. Take care everyone.:thumb:

Your information is wayyyyyyyy off. If mercer was just a small 3A school how do you explain their move from 2a (in the bottom half of enrollment) to 5A next year (in the top 1/3 of enrollement) they should be a solid (enrollment wise) 3A team this year and yes they are bordering on a 4A enrollment. Their districting for next year bears this out--the facts are indisputable.

The facts are at the KHSAA website, theres your facts. Mercer's going off of last year was just a few over 700 students, Harrodsburg had a little over 200. Given last years graduation and this years incomming freshmen, gives you an estimate of around 915 or so, give or take a few...the exacts arent known yet.

Secondly, the new alignments arent going off of the CO-ED enrollment, they are going off the enrollment of BOYS in a school. If you'll look close enough at next years alignments, you'll see that most of the current 2A schools will be playing in the new 3A and 4A next year, with Mercer moving to 5A.

According to last years enrollment, Lincoln County is one of the lowest 4A schools when it comes to enrollment (1160), with Anderson County being one of the biggest 3A schools, enrollment (1144)... So, in saying that, it leaves this years MERGER enrollment somewhere around 200+ kids away from the small 4A and 200+ difference when it comes to the biggest 3A school.

Lets say that this years enrollment is 950 (which it's not), that would still leave Mercer in the middle of the pack of 3A schools. So, what Im trying to tell you, is that, if Mercer was a borderline 3A/4A, they would need to be in the mid-high 1100's, like Lincoln and Anderson (1160 and 1144). Those are facts that are INDISPUTABLE!!:jump:

After 3 straight losses, Boyle will be desperately looking for the W, but Mercer goes into the game with high expectations to deny the Rebels their much needed victory.

I have to go with momentum in this one.

The combined record of Boyle County's opponents this year is 13-2 (The 3 teams that have beaten Boyle are currently undefeated). The combined record of Mercer's opponents this year is 5-7. None of the teams Mercer has defeated are over .500. Just an interesting bit of information I thought.;)

Mercer completely shut down South Laurel who in return dismantled Southwestern last week. I believe they put up 47 points. Mercer would have shut them out if not for a bad call in the back of the endzone. But, noone is going to win an argument with schedule strength. Not too many teams have played the type of schedule that the Rebels have played. But, another advantage for Mercer is that Boyle has only seen a limited amount of the Mercer offense just like everyone else. I expect a game late into the fourth quarter. But, who knows? This one could get ugly for either team.

Which is why Mercer has outscored them 165-6 !!!!

Can't do a thing about your opponents talent level....all you can do is play the game.

The boys from Boyle have been through this kind of game before. Mercer has not.
