Boyle Co v/s Mercer Co predictions....

Featured Replies

Don't forget that Boyle and Mercer are neighbors. So you make yourself at home at our house.

"our house"? Merger Titan, you said in an earlier thread, you had not been to a Mercer Co. home game in 7-8 years.

I have gone to about 90% of the Harrodsburg games in the past 10 years home and away. If I wasn't at a Harrodsburg game you could find me at a Mercer Co game....or Danville or Boyle..some of us just love football.

With so much speed, I don't see how anyone should even touch Mercer in the state. I think Mercer wins, but closer than many think 42-38.

Our house as in Mercer field or Harrodsburg field. Is serving your country a legit reason for not being at a game in a few years? I never missed a game before that. I told you work had kept me away for a while. I have to say that you don't forget much.

Glad to have you back at Mercer Co. Mercer football has changed over the last 7-8 years.

Thanks for your service

I know Mercer had some tough years in the 90's but the last couple of years they have been making strides. I did check out the field the other day and it looked pretty impressive. They have put some money into the last few years I can see.

This Mercer team is the real deal, this should be a heck of a game with alot of individual talent on both squads, Boyle is down but there still a very good team, just not by thier standards...Mercer wins 28-14.

Mercer game @ Mercer Field, also, other info I heard pretty straight today - some designated tailgating area (closer to the field) you must pay for a parking pass - otherwise you can park/tailgate anywhere else w/out paying. Mercer fans - season admit passes available too in advance, but I heard not at the gate. I'm getting there early! It will be a tough game - Mercer on top. Don't forget Rebels & Titans fans, http://www.wtvq.com and vote for Gridiron Blitz highlighted game of the week on the news Friday night. Good luck to both teams and coaching staffs.

You're right, we're not there to talk, we're there to play some football, well we'll let the players do the playing, You and I just cheer them on.

I just do the one banana.

Mercer is NOT a borderline 3A/4A team, they are a technically a small 3A school playing in 2A, with an enrollment of right about 915 students. A little over 700 from the original Mercer campus, and only about 200 or so from Harrodsburg.

Your information is wayyyyyyyy off. If mercer was just a small 3A school how do you explain their move from 2a (in the bottom half of enrollment) to 5A next year (in the top 1/3 of enrollement) they should be a solid (enrollment wise) 3A team this year and yes they are bordering on a 4A enrollment. Their districting for next year bears this out--the facts are indisputable.

MERCER - 35

BOYLE - 24

Can some of you Boyle faithful tell me about Soph.Cameron Finchum, how is he doing, is he starting? I know his dad, and was just curious to how he is doing.

For the school year of 2005/2006, the final audited enrollment for Harrodsburg was 239 and for Mercer was 717, a total of 956.

Football alignments are based on 2 year averages. So if there was any drop in enrollment with the merger (which I have heard there was) then 915 total enrollment is not hard to imagine and Mercer may drop a bit with the next re-alignment in 2009.

The new football alignment (2007-2008) is based on the 04/05 and 05/06 enrollments taken on an average. But it uses boys only enrollment, not the total population. Mercer has an unusually high boy/girl ratio, which accounts for their high placement in the new alignment.

To put it into perspective, if you combine Mercer and Harrodsburg's male enrollment for the 05/06 school year (the most current figures available on KHSAA) and compare that to other football schools in KY, here is what you get.

Boys Only Enrollment

Mercer 530 (M 394, H 136)

Bowling Green 536

Hopkinsville 535

Owensboro 530

Ashland 516

Johnson Central 495

Rockcastle 489

Lexington Catholic 447

Highlands 395

Paducah Tilghman 383

Belfry 353
