Clyde Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) Boone County agrees to pay up to $800K in wrongful death lawsuit filed by family of Samantha Ramsey | NKyTribune Edited December 7, 2016 by Colonels_Wear_Blue Fixed Link Caption
lawildcat Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 That should be $800K, not $8K in the title of your link. Not your mistake, Clyde.
John Anthony Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Why? Use of force, training issue. The department is revising its policy. The way he acted wasn't in their policy necessarily but it's not enough to fire him or lock him up.
plantmanky Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Use of force, training issue. The department is revising its policy. The way he acted wasn't in their policy necessarily but it's not enough to fire him or lock him up. So she attempts to murder a cop and her family gets 800K?
Bengal Maniac Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Why? This is pretty standard in lawsuits. The fiscal court is at the mercy of the insurance company. If the insurance company wants to settle, there is not a lot the public agency can do. The way it works, whether the fiscal court likes it or not. My guess is the settlement might go over what the insurance company is required to pay. I have been on the end of believing, along with our attorneys believing we would win in court but the insurance company said no we will settle. I wasn't happy and didn't agree, but it didn't matter.
NamecipS Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 $3.5 million Samantha Ramsey wrongful-death lawsuit settled for $3.5 million
NamecipS Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Lack of training or not, this seems wrong. Both parties were at fault.
John Anthony Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 So she attempts to murder a cop and her family gets 800K? She was attempting to drive off, he jumped on her car. Both parties made mistakes.
TAC Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Knew it was going to happen soon. The family turned down an offer just prior to thanksgiving. Can't wait to get all of the details from my liberal buddy who was involved in the case.
Dlbdonn Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 She was shot by a cop who was impaired and out of control . . .
woodsrider Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 She was shot by a cop who was impaired and out of control . . . The officer was impaired?
Dlbdonn Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Newspaper article I read in the Enquirer said that he had prescription drugs in him that impaired his ability to act .
lawildcat Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 The officer was impaired? Part of the settlement talks about use of prescription drugs in the workplace.
HammerTime Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Part of the settlement talks about use of prescription drugs in the workplace. Well that certainly adds a wrinkle to it.
