December 7, 20169 yr Steve Jones on Twitter: "UofL encouraging fans to support Lamar Jackson's Heisman candidacy by lighting a red bulb on their porch or storefront w #L1C4LIT https://t.co/HADNuzwN8Y" Interesting marketing strategy
December 7, 20169 yr Yes cheesy but in reality it’s a very exciting time for Louisville football…. My Christmas lights will officially double as my Lamar #L1C4LIT lights…. Lol Go Lamar!!!

December 7, 20169 yr It's interesting because of what red lights normally indicate. LOL – I had no idea and had to google that! One site said prostitution and one site said anti-gun solidarity. Mine is simply for Lamar!!
December 7, 20169 yr LOL – I had no idea and had to google that! One site said prostitution and one site said anti-gun solidarity. Mine is simply for Lamar!! Yeah, never heard of a red light being indicative of anything either. But as usual, some folks will try to find a negative in everything. :lol2: Go Cards! Go Lamar!
December 7, 20169 yr Yeah, never heard of a red light being indicative of anything either. But as usual, some folks will try to find a negative in everything. :lol2: Go Cards! Go Lamar! You've seriously never heard the term "Red light district"?
December 7, 20169 yr You've seriously never heard the term "Red light district"? Yes! Went to Belgium once and my co-workers jokingly said let’s stop in Amsterdam to see the red light district. I honestly thought this meant the crazy party scene, i.e. dancing, drugs, partying, etc. Now it’s starting to make sense.... Geez people get your minds out of the gutter. LOL
December 7, 20169 yr You've seriously never heard the term "Red light district"? It sounds familiar now that you say it, but I never put anything thought into it or wondered what it was.
December 7, 20169 yr Author Yeah the Red Light is a horrible marketing strategy for the reasons alread discussed. The UofL Marketing messed up big time with this one. If the scandal hadn't of happened it would probably be something people look over, but after everything they've been through there this is a bad look.

December 7, 20169 yr Author God forbid you market using the school colors. Without the scandal its no big deal, with the scandal it seems to be in poor taste. A Red Light is a symbol for prostitution. Businesses will hand a red light up in a store front window that looks exactly like the one that UofL is marketing here. It's just not a good look man. They should have known better.

Marketing did its job.
December 8, 20169 yr glad to see a Heisman ceremony invitation has become a participation trophy.... Stats don't indicate the impact that Peppers has on the field, and this is from an OSU fan.
December 9, 20169 yr Author Stats don't indicate the impact that Peppers has on the field, and this is from an OSU fan. What impact does he have though? If he isn't making tackles, isn't intercepting passes, isn't breaking passes up, and teams are running the ball right at him and having success, then what exactly is his impact. He is a hell of an athlete I would never deny him that, but the performance on the field doesn't match the hype. This is all relative of course to players who I feel have a much greater impact on their teams and in particular the defensive side of the ball than Peppers does including 1 on his own team. To me Malik Hooker, Jonathan Allen, Myles Garrett, Jourdan Lewis, Adoree Jackson, Reuben Foster, and Derwin James all have a much bigger impact on their teams than Peppers does. To me Peppers does a lot of things really well, but what does he do great? If you watch the plays Peppers ran on offense, it looks like a waste of time and completely took the Michigan offense out of rhythm a lot of times. It was clear that they were trying to keep the Heisman publicity around him. For instance, 2 of his rushing TD's came against Rutgers and he came in and ran the wildcat in the red zone and scored. So Michigan doesn't have a running back or a receiver on offense who could have ran the ball there? It just seemed forced all season. He had a great return against Colorado, but was held in check the rest of the year. If there is one thing he might be great at is returning, but he is far from the best returner in college football. Another case where there is a better returner on his own team. Jourdan Lewis is a better returner than Jabrill Peppers. Malik Hooker had 6 INT's and 3 Pick 6's this year and Peppers has 1 int his whole career. Hooker had the same amount of points on defense this year than Peppers scored on defense, offense, and returning combined. Hell Jonathan Allen, a defensive lineman, scored 2 TD's this year on defense. Like I said give him his props for being a fantastic athlete and he will have a good NFL career if he lands in the right defensive system, but there are a lot more players in college football who are more deserving of accolades than Peppers is. The fact that he is in NYC proves to me that the media hype around an athlete plants a seed that a player is deserving of praise before they even watch him play.
