GrantNKY Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Lamar Jackson Baker Mayfield Dede Westbrook Deshaun Watson Jabrill Peppers
GrantNKY Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 You know I have to do it. Guy with 1 career interception makes it to NYC. Give me a break. Guy who couldn't catch JT Barrett on a long run, 1 career, interception, 1 career touchdown return, isn't even top 25 in the country in tackles. What exactly does this guy do? I thought he was a good athlete then I saw him be unable to catch JT Barrett who is a good runner, but is fairly slow. The dude had 4 TD's this year. Malik Hooker had 3 pick 6's this year. Not really cool with Dede Westbrook being there either. Have you seen the secondary's in the Big XII? The Buckeyes had them running around like chickens with their heads cut off and Oklahoma had 1 of the better secondaries in the Big XII. I'll sit back and wait for the hate to come my way, but I'll wait to hear something to prove me wrong. All I hear is great athlete, great athlete, great football player. Prove to me he is a great football player because the dude has shown me zero. He isn't even the best defensive player on his own team for God's sake. Jourdan Lewis is twice the football player Jabrill Peppers is. Congrats ESPN, you successfully proved that if you hype up a player enough the rest of the country will praise him without ever watching him do anything great, they'll just believe you at face value. Alright I'm ready for the hate now, I can take it.
Samcro Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 The Peppers nod is a joke. Kind of a muddled field, I guess I'll take Watson?
NKYknowitall Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 What a joke.... how does Oklahoma send 2 and Cook gets left out? So much for this repsresenting the best players in college football
Bengal Maniac Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 This is Jackson's by a lot. Jackson Watson Mayfield Westbrook Peppers
bugatti Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Do people understand how Heisman voting works? The list shows me that there is not much competition.

He has done something right, minus INT stats.
Cats3x Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Don't they take five if the voting is somewhat close? Can't remember what decides how many they take. Can't imagine Jackson doesn't win. If OU was in I could see Mayfield having a shot. Watson has had the worst season of the bunch, IMO. But he's a fantastic player. Just had some turnovers.

It all depends upon the margin between votes received after the minimal three finalists. My guess is 1. Jackson, by a mile. Mayfield/Watson a solid second, and the next three with low totals near one another. Or 2-5 are all super low and in close proximity.
GrantNKY Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 Blaming ESPN? How about blame Harbaugh and Michigan for openly leading the campaign? In fairness, Peppers is presently high on mock drafts. He has done something right, minus INT stats. I blame a lot of people for it. Harbaugh included, but I can't fault a coach for propping up a player. The media is different. My problem with Peppers is 2 of his TD's were against Rutgers where they brought him in to run the wildcat when they were up by several TD's already to pad his stats. But his job is basically run all over the field and make plays, he not intercepting passes and he isn't setting the world on fire with tackles. I just can't figure out exactly what it is he is doing besides being physically gifted. I get it. The dude is a great athlete, but there are plenty of guys in CFB who are equally as gifted if not more gifted and have more performance on the field than Peppers, but none have the publicity he does. I don't blame him. He seems like a pretty good dude from all accounts, but he is unworthy of being a Heisman finalist.

Usually in years where there isn't a clear cut 2nd place they take a lot of guys.
LIPTON BASH Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I'm not going to rant about Peppers but I don't believe be belongs here. He isn't the best defensive player in the country. But I'm staunch FSU hater but Dalvin Cook not being in the top 5 blows my mind.
bugatti Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Usually in years where there isn't a clear cut 2nd place they take a lot of guys. Incorrect. It has to do with vote totals and the gap between #3 and #4.
GrantNKY Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 Incorrect. It has to do with vote totals and the gap between #3 and #4. I thought it was vote totals for every place except first. I'm thinking the votes were pretty even amongst the bottom 4 guys. I haven't seen anyone as the consensus 2nd place guy. I personally think it's Mayfield but I'm not entirely sure it will be him.
