CAL was impressive in all phases of the game today. The Ads hung with them in the first half, but a few key mistakes in the second half tipped the scale in CAL's favor. Both teams were very impressive on the defensive side of the ball. Congratulations to both teams on a great season!!

Congrats CAL! They did what they needed to. Very well coached team. No. 80 is a beast.

 

Danville was perfect defensively in the first half. Too many mistakes in the 3rd quarter. Offense couldn't get points. Has several great drives that were squandered. All credit to CAL's defense though. They are a very good 2A team

I don't buy the anti-private talk at all. Beechwood plays at least three private schools every year. One of the privates has never beaten Beechwood. One of the privates is an even battle over the years. One of the privates has the edge on Beechwood. In Kentucky, kids can go to any school they want, public or private. Build a great public school program and school, and players will want to play there. Heck, a really good public school has better facilities/resources and is a lot cheaper tuition than almost every private school.

Not to beat this horse anymore, especially in a thread dedicated to Cal's championship, but...

 

Beechwood may play privates, but none stand in their path to a championship, at least not currently. Talent focused in Louisville is MUCH better than what's spread out in northern Kentucky. Kids know and parents are figuring out that "junior" can play in Louisville 2A and start as a sophomore instead of backing up for a couple of years at Louisville 6A. I mean you can only put 11 on the field at a time, why be one of 89 waiting on the sideline at T or X when you can get on the field right away at DeS or Cal. And let's face it, football talent in the privates is loaded in 2A and 6A.
