I am not getting in this discussioin on Boyd's coaching, don't have a dog in the fight. I just wanted to comment on this one statement, A former Raceland football coach (L. Heck) used to say "it's not about the X's and O's - it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's" . Just another way of saying the same thing.

 

I disagree....it does matter where you put your athletes and the formations that they are in.

 

I also agree that when it is your time to die, that it is your time to go, but that doesnt mean I am gonna go stand in the middle of a highway:thumb:

I don't think they are talking about turning this year's team around as much as they are talking about turning a program around. Boyd Co has been inconsistent over the last few season's and I agree with the others that believe Coach Evans can take this team back to being a consistent contender for a district title and a playoff team.

 

Your dead on there it's not one season to make a turn around. We're hope'n for Evans to stay for the long haul and get the program goin like some good old fashioned football with some decent wins against some talent and strength.

yea, you know just a dip to get em fired up. I think coaches allowing players on a field with tobacco products should be brought up for review no matter who he is.

Boyd Co. is really struggling this year. How many coaches has Boyd had in the last 5-10 years. I would like to see them get this together but at this point in the season Boyd looks like they may be the worst team in the district. Congrats to Russell on the win.

Oh man!!! You talk about a bad facemask penalty. Man, I've officiated varsity ball for 12 years now and I've never seen one THAT bad. I've seen them pretty bad but that was definitely the worst. I thought it might have hurt his neck, I'm sure it will be sore tomorrow. The officials were right on top of it, penalizing Boyd with a personal foul.

 

Maybe I was not watching closely as some others were but I thought the kid had a hold of the face mask let go and then the helmet got knocked off.

On a high note, the pre-game show for Ivan was very nice indeed! That's a coach parents have stuck by and it was great seeing how everyone took to their feet and applauded him.

I think he grabbed it with both hands and tore the helmet off. It did not look like he let go until the helmet was off.

 

Look at this way. If a player has all of his momentum going forward and you bring him to a dead stop, you did not release the face mask. It turned his head completely around.

 

It was amazing he was able to stay on his feet. That really says something about Clark's strength and balance.

Second of all, dont get on here comparing Russell's defense to Boyd's. In the past few years we have had the same talent as they have and could not get it done. Personally I think our Defense stinks.(Hey, I appreciate you paying attention to my past posts though. But when the County starts playing some real D and stops some teams, then talk to me)

 

Now on another note I might not sound like it, but I am extremely supportive of this new staff and hope it works out. I really wish everyone would not act the way they do at games, very uncalled for. They need to let this Staff grow as a Staff and let the young men grow as F-Ball players:thumb:

Russell most of the time runs a 5-2 defense nothing exotic. On offense 3 formations and most the time it is the 2 tight end wing-t. It is all about talent and execution. Russell has had more of both the last few years.

 

I will give you this. I thought BC was one of the more talented teams I saw last year. As much as anybody in the area. And in the only game I saw them live and in person they executed very well. I have no idea how the wheels came off but it was one heck of a wreck.
