Bryan Station 60 Boyle County 56

Featured Replies

Final from Rebel Arena.

Eric Boone and Terence Murphy both finish with 20 points to lead Bryan Station. Boone also had 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Bryce Slone led the Rebels with 17 points and Will Bramel, Reese Smith and Baby J all had 11 points. Bramel had 7 rebounds and Slone had 5. Baby J and Smith both had 3 assists.

Will Bramel looks pretty darn polished on offense. Think if he gets 10-15 shots per game Boyle will be in decent shape.

Eric Boone is really fun to watch.

His footwork in the post is insane. I loved seeing his football mentality coming over to basketball. He's moving folks with his body and that is so great to see. He can be dominant in the post. I was super encouraged by what I saw from him tonight.

I believe there were 9 ties in the game and 7 lead changes. I need to look it up.

That's correct.

Each team had a 7-point lead (Station 40-33, Boyle 47-40). Coincidentally, both teams' longest run was 14-0. One of the weirdest eight-minute spans I've seen in a game, from the middle of the 3rd to the middle of the 4th. Huge swings in momentum.

I thought it was a great opening game for both teams....pretty high level basketball for 2 teams that will only get better.

For Bryan Station, they need a post presence to go with Boss and Terrance.

For Boyle, I know the Rebels are young, but with so many guard type players on the floor, ball handling must improve. Some really pivotal turnovers during the Bryan Station 14-0 run that was the difference.

I like this Rebel team!

Not surprising. I thought he really improved last year as the season progressed.

I also like 4 of 5 starters were double digit scorers.

Decision making must improve as well and I imagine it will once this group plays together more and gets more acclimated with one another. It helps to be able to know what each other is doing and you could tell in some spots they weren't on the same page and that led to some unnecessary turnovers as well.

I'm certain they will figure it out and for now they still have time to figure it out.

I always feel kind of bad for 11th Region teams when they come down to 12th Region gyms. 11th Region refs and 12th Region refs are vastly different. I thought Bryan Station did a great job of adjusting to how the game was being called in the second half. In the first half they got to 10 fouls pretty quickly. In the second half I think it was the 4th quarter before they picked up their first team foul.

In what way? I have heard guys talk about 1st and 2nd region refs also being a lot different, one region letting them play VERY physical, one calling everything. Is this kind of the same with 11th and 12th?

There is another Bodner at Boyle? Cousin to Sam and Jacob? Not a sibling, right?

No. Not a sibling. I think distant cousin maybe but I am not sure. There are a lot of Bodners in our area so I would guess they are related somehow but I am not sure off the top of my head.
