Updates from last night games??

Conner 8th plays their last home game as middle schoolers tonight. Should have a nice size student section. They have Gray tonight.

Conner 8th wins a close one tonight in Hebron. I was not able to attend but heard Gray has some new players with size that gave Conner some trouble. Colts end up winning by 8, these two play again next Thursday at Gray.

 

Also heard Gray only lost to IHM by 6, if this is true this could be anyone's year to win the 8th grade championship. I don't think IHM has lost to any schools in the league, but in a one and out tournament you never know.

 

Conner has St. Pius tomorrow and Grant Co on Thursday.

Woodland 6th and 7th both won at home last night against Highlands. The 7th grade game was a real barn burner, with the Wildcats finally pulling off a 5 point win in double overtime! Both teams played GREAT!!!

IHM 8th lost to Beechwood in the St. Henry Tournament earlier in the year. I'm not sure if they have lost to any other teams from NKy..

Conner 6th won by 15 or so, game was much tighter then that in second half.

If you weren't in Grant County tonight then you missed #4 for Conner 6th grade get very hot! He was either 8-10 or 9-11 from 3 and played no more then half the game.. Great game by both Grant County and Conner with Conner coming out on top in a close one!

Seen Conner play a few times. If I had to guess it would be Hamilton, Campbell would be my 4th or 5th choice. All though Campbell shoots it that many times a game.

Conner 6th and 8th win tonight at Gray. 8th grade game was over in the first half and running clock in the second.

 

7th grade Gray won. #21 for Gray nails the 1 & 1 with 2.9 seconds to go double overtime, student section for Gray is better than most high school student sections.

 

Conner 8th waiting to see if they are a 2 or 3 seed, the loss to CE could come back to haunt them.

I have no affiliation and know no one involved with this, but I really enjoy seeing stories like the one below. Major kudo's to the Ockerman coach, the other teams coach, and everyone else involved int this. Great job guys!

 

Eighth-grader with autism steps onto the basketball court - Story

 

FLORENCE, Ky. -- Thursday night was Mitch Shelley’s chance to shine.

 

Shelley, an eighth-grader with autism, attended every practice of the Ockerman Middle School basketball team during the 2016-’17 school year. As the team’s manager, he ran drills, gave pep talks and kept track of equipment for his teammates.

 

"He keeps morale up with the team," said Coach Wes Combs.

 

For the team’s final game Thursday, Combs decided to do something special: He invited Shelley onto the court.

 

"I got a real quick smile and a, ‘Sure, I can do that, coach,'" he said.

 

Shelley donned a No. 43 jersey and played forward in the team’s last game of the season -- and the final game of his middle school career. He was a starter and scored the first points with a special play his team called "the Mitch and Roll."

 

Mitch will attend Boone County High School next year, and who knows: You might see him continue his basketball career there.
