November 28, 20169 yr Anybody see Jill Steins tweet about Castros death? Dr. Jill Stein on Twitter: "Fidel Castro was a symbol of the struggle for justice in the shadow of empire. Presente!" She, along with anyone else who respects or shows support for this man, is an idiot.
November 29, 20169 yr How can people be so stupid? I just don't understand. Honestly President Obama needs to address BLM on this and educate them on just how bad of a dude Fidel Castro was. Why? He and the BLM have agreed to disagree on some things and agreed to agree on others. I wouldn't give them the time of day on this issue. It gives credence to their whole message.
November 29, 20169 yr That's really extreme. I don't agree with Obamas policies but he isn't a extremist like Castro is. At the end of the day Obama is a good guy. Agreed. Obama has spoken out against Cuba holding political prisoners and he spoke out about their political prisoners while he was in Cuba during a press conference.
November 29, 20169 yr I did say similar, not exact. I believe if you drew a hard, black/white no shades of gray line and said if you fall on the right side of the line you are a hard liner against Castro, and on the left side you would be a Castro sympathizer/apologist...I think Pres. Obama would fall on the left side of that line. I guess that is why when he was in Cuba he spoke out about Cuba and their political prisoners. Sounds like a Castro apologist to me.

It gives credence to their whole message. If they are speaking this sort of propaganda then it needs to be met with the voice of President Obama who has the voice to change the opinions of those who are too ignorant to understand the atrocities that happened under the rule of Fidel Castro. Whether people like it or not BLM has a large voice in the young African American community and if they are led to believe that idolozing a man with the reputation of Fidel Castro is ok then it needs to be met with facts. Obama has ability to render their message invalid from this point forward by opening criticizing their false message on Castro. Colin Kaepernick wearing a Fidel Castro shirt was the last straw for me. He is an open supporter of BLM. So if he as an NFL player with access to a college education can believe such blatant misrepresentation of facts, imagine what the young impressionable minds of the young African Americans across the country and believing.
November 29, 20169 yr Maybe Obama can call them to the WH for a set down and discuss their issues again ? Or first lady can heap praise on them again ? Birds of a feather.

Obama isn't going to change the minds of BLM and young blacks aren't simply going to do what Obama says and suggests just because it is Obama saying it. Last I saw Hillary lost and he damn neared begged the black community to go vote her like they did him and they all stayed home. I think you are overstating how much the youth of the black community listen to Obama. Education is the most important thing in this equation. Not the opinions of BLM or whether or not Obama speaks out on them. BLM has lost a lot of its luster in the last few months. I've been an open supporter of BLM and their comments on Castro won't change that. I've said it for quite some time now, love the concept of BLM. The execution of that concept has been flawed. Obama has said what he had to say about Castro. The sooner we quit talking about him the less his legacy lives on. He isn't worth discussing at this point. Obama likely won't speak out against BLM. Him not speaking out on them is the same as not endorsing their message.
November 29, 20169 yr Obama likely won't speak out against BLM. Him not speaking out on them is the same as not endorsing their message. I agree. I don't think he should come out either way in regards to BLM.

I agree completely with the intent of BLM, the execution has been flawed and along the way their sense of justice and peace has been skewed by misrepresentation of people such as Fidel Castro. BLM has become more about isolating the African- American community and furthering the divide in my eyes by taking radical stances. It's good to hear that their message is losing its luster after taking such radical turns. From an outsiders perspective, BLM has become more isolationist and trying to exclude themselves from those who hold different opinions instead of trying to seek inclusion and equal treatment amongst the rest of society. BLM has had the exact opposite effect it originally set out to achieve. Obviously this is a young, white, males perspective so feel free to correct me if you feel I'm incorrect on this.

I don't think it was their attempt to become isolationist but I can see how they did. That's just another reason why I feel like their execution was flawed. As a whole the organization was in disarray. To date we still don't really know who the "leader" of BLM is. There are a few mouthpieces but when they aren't in solidarity with a singular message then confusion sets in. There were "leaders" who disagreed with one another's philosophy so that alone creates problems right out of the gate. Because of the different messages from different people it was difficult to figure out what the true message was. An organization with no true leader is bound to fail and unfortunately a lot of the good of BLM has been outweighed by the bad.
November 29, 20169 yr I think the BLM movement started with the best of intentions. Unfortunately too many ignorant people have used it to spread hate and violence. It is ridiculous to paint Castro as a hero. Have any of his BLM supporters ever read a newspaper or a history book? Unfortunately, this is the stuff that discredits what could have been a positive thing.
November 29, 20169 yr Sorry but I can not or will never understand how some can be OK with BLM supporting a woman who killed a police officer and left his kids fatherless. Trooper Foerster had served with the New Jersey State Police Department for almost three years. He is survived by his wife and two children
November 29, 20169 yr I'm still shocked anyone could support a cop killer or let alone a father of 2.
