Black Lives Matter Salutes Fidel Castro

Featured Replies

Really? You want the guy who is telling them to keep doing what they are doing to address them?

Exactly. He had no problem denouncing Trump.

I don't think it was their attempt to become isolationist but I can see how they did. That's just another reason why I feel like their execution was flawed. As a whole the organization was in disarray. To date we still don't really know who the "leader" of BLM is. There are a few mouthpieces but when they aren't in solidarity with a singular message then confusion sets in. There were "leaders" who disagreed with one another's philosophy so that alone creates problems right out of the gate. Because of the different messages from different people it was difficult to figure out what the true message was. An organization with no true leader is bound to fail and unfortunately a lot of the good of BLM has been outweighed by the bad.

The main message Black Lives Matter a large majority of Americans can get behind.

I made the same observation earlier on that I did for Occupy Wallstreet. While yes lack of leadership and a clear message or goal is a problem, it is not the main problem. It's when these groups allow socialist , communist and anarchist groups into the mix to speak their message . Those groups Americans will never get behind.

It's the same reason I didn't take the two largest Trump protests recently serious. They were both organized by a large Socialist group.

I won't get to upset about the topic of this thread though. I hate Fidel. But young naive kids of all color have a love affair for monsters like this. Most eventually grow up and regret it.

I'd also guess that most have no real clue about Castro's history. He's been out of the spotlight for quite some time, and rose to power when their grandparents were their age. The young generation didn't even live through the cold war. I have no idea how much of that recent history is even taught in history books.

That is the issue in a nutshell. Nobody has a problem with them having the right to protest and their original messages especially BLM (The Occupy Wall Street movement was just a bunch of looney toons), but the problem most people have is when they become radicalized by beliefs that America has been fighting to relinquish for the past 100 years. Lots of people actually think socialism and communism would work, but then deny the fact that every communist regime that the world has ever seen has been some of the most oppressive governments in the history of the world. They are fighting for their voices to be heard, but then don't understand that the things they are fighting for would actually suppress their voices. But I obviously never think socialism will ever gain steam because once people start growing up and participating in the economy they start to understand just how illogical socialism actually is. Their messages become invalid as soon as they start adopting these radicalized beliefs. The lack of a education is definitely the largest threat facing our nation now. It's sad how far we've dropped. If you walked in a HS and asked students what the USSR was, you would probably only recieve a 30% success rate. The rest would say they don't know what it is, or they would say it's another name for Russia. It's sad.

Agreed on all counts.
