Dang, this is another good game in The Ville Friday night. Gonna be tough deciding where to go!

With Butler Co. and Owensboro Catholic being two of the highest scoring teams in 2A, Mayfield only gave up 6 pts to each. In fact, Butler Co. 6 came on the JV. DeSales gave more points to Mayfield last year than any other team they played, and Corbin allowed 35 to Mayfield, 28 in one half this year. These are 2 teams that pride themselves on the D. With Mayfield being more efficient on offense this season, I can't see how my Cards don't win this game. Catholic just wore down in the 4th quarter last week trying to chase Bright around in the rain all night. If he got tired, he never showed it. Look for him to put his teammates on his back and seal the deal in the 4th. Cards by 13.

Anyone have links on game footage of CAL. Would like to check it out. Seen some highlights, but obviously that makes everyone look good.

CAL was fairly young at the QB spot at the beginning of the year, and SK had one of the best offenses in the state. If I remember correctly, this was a pretty close game heading into the midway point of the 3rd quarter. I wouldn't compare scores from the 1st week of the year. I have no clue what CAL or Mayfield have as I haven't seen them. I have seen SK, and I understand how a young team struggled against them in the 1st week of the season.

 

OK, so mayfield has one of the best offenses in 2A so what point are you trying to make exactly? Look,I'm going to let you all in on a secret. Louisville/Lexington teams always make me nervous. The talent in those areas are ridiculously good. It always makes me think this could be it for our run. The coach staff always comes up with a game plan that puts our boys in the best position to win. I'll be the first to say that us Cardinals fans don't assume were going to win just for showing up. I always believe if we make it then we got a heck of a shot to win it. My prediction MF 17-10

Almost every year, somebody has their best team ever. And because of our pretty good playoff record for the last gazillionteen years, we end up running into these "best" teams a lot. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. If you really want to know how good your team is, we will come help you find out. This year, however, is one of our best teams. For what it's worth the newest Courier Journal Litkenhous Ratings come out Monday and has us Mayfield at 12th place overall at 119.3

 

CAL come in at 107.6 The overall rankings stopped at 20th. After looking at all of the classes and what they scored CAL come in 25th overall if I did it correctly.

In situations like this, I wouldn't want any other coach than coach Dew figuring this out.

My two cents: if there is film that shows this more clearly, then this should have been fixed by the KHSAA. Wait....bad choice of language.

 

I kinda agree with calling the penalty more often, don't want to get kids hurt...but why in this age of film and video where everything can be reviewed do we put power in the hands of officials who have proven over and over, year after year, again and again...that they are human. Officials should call the game and then someone else can do a review for suspensions and such.

 

Hate it for Arnett that finish of his senior year is tied directly to the judgment of a single official.
