This is a fantastic article. Hits the nail on the head. I'm sure some of you all don't believe me when I say I hope he is successful but I have been encouraged by his first week as President Elect and I can see me liking having him as our POTUS.

Donald Trump knew how to win an election. Tell people what they already feel "illegal immigrants are stealing our jobs, Obamacare is horrible, we need to bomb the hell out of ISIS, etc." You get a very passionate group of supporters behind you this way and it worked. But now Trump knows he has to be smart and run a successful right house, if he wants to be reelected.

I'm hoping that how he ran his campaign isn't indicative of how he's going to govern. I am fully prepared to get behind Trump if he does the right things.

Obama ran a campaign, both times, promising things he couldn't and didn't deliver. Didn't seem to bother his supporters all that much until this year. Then they said enough is enough.

All successful candidates moderate once they become President. Not really news IMO.

It is when you take into account how he campaigned.

I think he's going to end up with both sides ticked at him from time to time.

True Story, I was kicking myself election day for not stocking up on Ammo and even about not investing in a couple of AR's. Panic over Hillary getting elected would have probably gotten me a sweet return on my investment over the next couple of months.

The nice thing now is that prices will come down on ammo and weapons. I plan to buy lots of both at discount prices.

Trump is surely not as Conservative as I would like so I expect to be disappointed in some of his decisions. I can live with that.

I'm confused. So you don't want to see Trump win over the people he chose to alienate during his campaign? Better yet, why didn't he say all of this during his campaign? He could have done so much better and won over way more people by applying reason and logic to his campaign instead of hatred.

 

I mean seriously, the core things we heard from Trump supporters all year long was build the wall, imprison Hillary, drain the swamp and now we are looking at some fencing, Hillary will be free because her and Bill are good people and he doesn't want to hurt them and the swamp will never be drained. The vitriol during the campaign was deafening. Now silence is all we hear. This is where we are in 2016 when a man wins the presidential election using hateful and dividing rhetoric as his only means of winning the election. For a man who is now claiming to want to unite the country he could have united the country a long time ago had he used the words and temperament he has seemed to have found after being elected.

Talk of reaching out to those that he alienated during the election, I agree that he not only could but that he should do that.
